Teddy and Ursa arrived at the endless groves of berries. Their jaws hung open as drool drew from their hungry mouths. Ursa grabbed a pecha berry and began eating. Teddy leaped at a bush and began shoving every berry he could find into his mouth.
After about an hour, Ursa had long since satisfied herself while Teddy continued gorging. He plopped down next to Ursa with one paw on his rotund belly.
"How many berries did you eat?" asked Ursa.
"I don't know," replied Teddy, "Maybe three or four bushes worth," he added while patting his bulging stomach.

A furret was lying as if asleep on his back on the forest floor, near a stand of liechi trees. He was a big, brawny furret with dark brown stripes, crooked teeth and bad breath and a pot belly. He looked like he was asleep, but his eyes were open. Yet he wasn't dead.

Ursa noticed the motionless furret and walked over to investigate. She poked it on its side a few times.

The furret stirred. "Wha--?" He turned his head around to look at the little teddiursa. "Who...who're you?"

"I'm Ursa," replied Ursa, "I thought you were dead."

"I...I'm not dead," said the furret, finally getting some sort of words out. "I dunno exactly just what I am, but dead isn't it."

"OK, I was only checking," replied Ursa.

The furret rolled over onto his feet. He shook debris off himself and looked around. "So, er...where are we?"

"I'm not sure myself," replied Ursa, "But it's got lots of berries."

"Well...a place with berries can't really be all bad," said the furret. "I...I'm...name's Chunga...i think."

"Hi Chunga," replied Ursa.
By this time, Teddy was shoving more berries down his throat, tasting every different type he found.

"Yeah, right!," replied Teddy, "You just want all the berries to yourself!" he continued to eat until he came upon a small bush. It had pea-sized purple berries growing from it. He took a few in his palm and shoved it in his mouth, "These are sweet!"

"Dun eat every berry ya see...Some of 'em are poisonous."
Those words alone trickled through her sensitive ears, even though she was a decent distance away from the other Pokemon. Her mouth was suspended around a bulging berry, filled with a sweet juice that she longed to taste. Having not even touched it with her tongue yet, the white Eevee withdrew a step. Of course some of them were poison, she thought. But it looked so good...how did she know if it were bad or not?
The small Eevee tucked her tail against her side as she sat, contemplating. Well, the berry looked okay...but should she take the chance? Jolt sighed and trotted quietly toward the voices of the others, her ears perking up as she looked around a bush, her twinkling blue eyes blinking innocently.
"Excuse me, but how can you tell if a berry is poisonous or not?"

"Those're poisonous ones...I think," said Chunga. "I wouldn't eat them. Yer gonna have a major case of the pukes and the squirts if ya keep that up."

"My mama taught me which ones're poisonous, at least some of'em," said Chunga. "I get the faint feeling I'm not from around here, though. Lotta these plants are unfamiliar. But...taste'em. If they're real bitter, dun eat'em."

"You know what? You're poisonous! How do you like that?" replied Teddy with a slight slur in his voice.
"Teddy, I think he's right," replied Ursa.
"Well y'know... Y'know what, Ur... Ursa, you... You-" replied Teddy with a heavy slur in his voice before vomiting. He fell on his back with puke running down his body before moaning.

"Great, now we need some poison cure berries," said Chunga. "Can't quite remember what those'uns look like..." He looked at the vomit. "...Interesting breakfast ya had there."

Ursa sat behind Teddy while holding his head, "It's OK, Teddy. Chunga's going to help us find a cure."
Teddy did not respond.
"Teddy?" said Ursa while waving her hand in front of his eyes.
Teddy did not respond.
Ursa scooted over to Teddy's side and rested her hand on his still bulging stomach while holding her head above his chest. She lifted her head with tears in her eyes, "He... He doesn't have a pulse..."

"...he might be dead then, bub." Chunga put his paw on Teddy's chest, then leaned his head in close to see if he could hear Teddy breathing. "No breath--no pulse. Yep, dead. Famous last words--'this ain't poisonous.' "

Ursa covered her eyes with her paws and began to cry hysterically, "Oh, Teddy, I never got the chance to tell you I love you!"
A thin luxio appeared in the distance. He was eager to eat, but saw Ursa crying, "What happened?"

"This teddiursa didn't listen to me when I told him he was eating poison berries," said Chunga. "Speaking of eating, you look like you could stand to do a bit of that yourself."

"Uh... Thank you?" replied the luxio before walking over to a pecha berry bush and began eating.
Suddenly, a shiny salamence swooped down from the sky, looking for a meal. Drool leaked from his mouth as he eyed the fattened, dead teddiursa lying on the ground. A free meal. He walked over to Teddy and grabbed his corpse.
"No!" yelled Ursa, "Don't take Teddy!"

Chunga grabbed Ursa by the scruff of the neck as gently as he could and ran with her to get her out of reach of the salamence. He let her down once they were out of range. "Now--ain't the time to be getting attached to a dead body."

Ursa shivered. She was obviously traumatized. Suddenly, a loud ripping noise was heard before a splashing noise. Being that the two were behind some bushes, they couldn't see what had happened. Ursa poked her head through the shrubbery before immediately shrieking and jerking her head back.
On the other side, the green salamence had just sliced Teddy's belly open and was currently enjoying the contents.
The luxio had noticed this and rushed to where Chunga and Ursa were. "We'd better get out of here or we're next!" he exclaimed.
Crunching noises made their way to the unfortunate trio's ears. Ursa could only imagine what horrible things were happening to her boyfriend.

Chunga got a good look at what the salamence was doing before he decided to scram. "Er, that dumb dragon's about to experience the same abrupt end of life that poor ol' Teddy did...he's eating the stomach contents. Feh! Never did put much stock in their intelligence."

By this time, the salamence had already finished eating Teddy. He was still hungry and decided to go for seconds. He flew into the air.
"Sounds like he took off," said Ursa, "I think we're going to be--"
Ursa was interrupted as the salamence burst through the bushes and grabbed Ursa and the luxio. They both screamed as the salamence examined them. "You barely got enough meat on you for yourself," commented the salamence as he examined the luxio's visible ribcage. "You, on the other hand, would make a good snack," he continued while poking Ursa in the stomach. He dropped the luxio and ascended higher to enjoy his meal.
The luxio landed next to Chungra, who remained unnoticed, with a thud. Suddenly, he felt what appeared to be a raindrop on his forehead. Upon closer examination, it wasn't water.
Higher in the sky, the salamence popped Ursa in his mouth and began chewing as drops of blood trickled from his jaw.

Chunga pulled the luxio close against him and huddled in the bushes, while the dragon fed above their heads. "Shh...just stay completely silent'n still..." he whispered.
