"Zodiac, you need to show us how you came down here," said Sombra.

[wynnyelle]

"He cannot go back the way he came," said the nidorino. "It is that simple."

Charna fought her urge to just retort back. Instead, she kept herself calm. She had a lot of experience with suppressing her own rage...her life had depended on it for many years. "Why not?"

"Because none leave without the Unowns willing it so," said the nidorino.

"The Unowns? The Unowns are real?" said Charna.

"They are not only real, but they are the ultimate rulers of this place, and indeed, likely the sunworld above," said the nidorino.

[Omega]

"Oh, so just because some life-sized letters live here, we can't go back up?" asked Sombra, "Charna, Carni, Zodiac, let's just leave."

[wynnyelle]

"You can leave," said Charna. "I for one want to meet these unowns. I have a quest and if you don't want to follow, that is fine, but I'm going to do what I feel I have to. And what's a letter?"

[Omega]

"If you feel it's necessary, I'll come," said Sombra, "By the way, I suppose you, being a slave, would be illiterate. Letters are symbols that represent parts of speech. Unown are the physical embodiments of them."

[Jaemon]

"I'll come too!" piped up Zodiac. "I like exploring....."

[wynnyelle]

ooc: pokemon cannot read. They aren't humans.

ic: Charna flicked her ears and lights. She resented being reminded of her slave past. She didn't know what letters or literacy were, but she didn't know if having been a slave was the reason why. "You seem to know a lot about unowns." she looked back at the nidorino. "I wish to go to see the Unowns too. Please, by all means, take us there."

"I fully intend to," said the nidorino. "Come, follow me." He led them down a passageway that went, predictably, downwards.

[Omega]

OOC: I wasn't referring to the English language.

Sombra followed behind the rest, wondering what lay ahead.

[Jaemon]

Zodiac followed the Nidorino and Charna.

ooc: It doesn't really matter what language; reading is reading.

ic: The nidorino led them out into a vast, wide cavern that seemed more like a world than a cave. Charna's lights shone more brightly to illuminate the dimensions of it, but her light failed to even reach the ceiling. Other white pokemon nere and there stopped to stare. They squinted and tried to shield their eyes from the light...

"Can you please turn your lights down? Only it hurts our eyes," said the nidorino, who couldn't even bear to look.

"Sorry." Charna did so.

[Omega]

OOC: They have signs and stuff in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

"What is this place?" asked Sombra.

[wynnyelle]

ooc: This isn't Mystery Dungeon. Recognising symbols is one thing, reading letters and words is another. Even human beings didn't develop written language until about 5000 years ago.

ic: "This is our world, the Underworld," said the nidorino. "Or Underground. We have lived here since the beginning of time. How we arrived here...no one knows for sure. Some say that the pokegods placed our ancestors here long ago...others say that all pokemon were born here, and only some escaped at the beginning of time to populate the sunworld."

[Omega]

OOC: It's basically the same concept.

"Erymire sure has a colorful past," said Sombra.

[wynnyelle]

ooc: No, it is different, because recognising a symbol is something many if not most animals can learn to do. Pavlov demonstrated this quite adequately with his experiments, and people have trained animals to recognise hand signals or pictures for years. Recognising a symbol as representing a part of speech as in being readable is another level entirely.

ic: "Every place has a colourful past," said the nidorino. "Equally colourful is the future. You cannot understand the present or future without first knowing the past...unfortunately, even us guardians of the underworld and servants of the unowns can agree complately on our past."

[Jaemon]

Zodiac walked around the vast cavern. "This place looks cool!"

[Omega]

OCC: I meant between Mystery Dungeon and Erymire.

"Are we nearing the unown?" asked Sombra.

[Jaemon]

Zodiac kept wandering around, fascinated. "It's so big! It's like another world!!"

[wynnyelle]

"Big it is," said the nidorino as they headed through the caverns. "It is our home. The Unowns provide...they have allowed us to dwell here for all time."

"Sunworlders, sunworlders!" said the pokemon they passsed by. A few reached out to touch them.

[Omega]

Sombra growled, "You keep your paws off of me!"

[Jaemon]

"They're curious, Sombra. If you were them, you'd probably do the same." said Zodiac.

[wynnyelle]

"We honour the Sunworlders who have come for a reason," said the nidorino. "Your arrival is significant. Perhaps this means that the brewing darkness will reach a turning point. The land needs healing...and you may be part of the sign that things will get better."

[Jaemon]

"The land needs to be healed? What land?"

[Omega]

"So, Celebi sent me to this dimension for a reason?" asked Sombra.

[wynnyelle]

the nidorino stopped and turned straight around at Sombra's words. "A celebi sent you here?"

"Yes," said Charna.

"We must take you to the pools without a doubt, then. you were definitely sent here for a reason." To answer Zodiaca's question, he said, "Darkness has plagued these lands a long time. We only have the barest understanding of it...we're really only scratched the surface of its causes and effects."

[Jaemon]

Zodiac looked at one of the albino pokemon. "Hi, there." Zodiac waved to the albino pokemon.

[Omega]

"Yes," replied Sombra, "I'm not actually from the sunworld. I'm from another dimension unto itself."

[wynnyelle]

The nidorino picked up his pace. "We are almost there. You must tell the guardians of the pools everything...Celebis do not just transport pokemon from time to time an dimension to dimension without justified reason."

After a long while of more walking, and climbing mostly downward, they arrived at a somewhat large cavern where a small stream flowed through and several pools could be seen, crystal clear.

A nidoking, all white, nodded to the nidorino. "We have been expecting you," he said to the sunworlders.

[Jaemon]

OOC: Can there like, be a cave in or something. I reeeeeeeeeeeaaaaally wanna evolve Zodiac!

Zodiac look at the Nidorino. "I'm from this demenision."

[Omega]

"OK," replied Sombra, "How do we use these things?"

[wynnyelle]

ooc: There wouldn't be a cave in here...the caves are pretty stable. Sorry!

ic: "You don't," said the nidoking. "The pools don't get used. They will show what they wish to show. And you must never look in them, otherwise...otherwise you will never, ever be able to return to your world." He looked at Sombra, then looked in one of the pools. Slowly, the look on his face changed. "You are here from a time and place when the darkness that has matured now, was still new and had left fresh wounds in the world."
