Charna slowed her steps as they reached the caverns. The mountain that the path had led up onto now clearly showed a gaping passageway into blackness beyond. She had been kept as a slave prisoner in caverns before. Seeing that entranceway brought back all sorts of horrific memories. Of being forced to watch her ram owner rape their lamb daughter...more than once.

"I think this is it," she said, to the group.

[Omega]

Sombra felt at home in the darkness, "So the arceus lives here?"

[wynnyelle]

Carni stepped fearfully towards the dark. "I don't see any arceus....though I don't really know what one looks like."

"I guess the only way to find out is to go inside," said Charna. A little shaky and hesitant, she forced herself to move forward.

[Omega]

Sombra noticed Charna's trembling, "Don't worry, I can see in the dark. There's nothing to worry about."

[wynnyelle]

"You won't need to see in the dark." The ampharos ewe blinked her lights, and brightened them once they were inside. She easily lit the area around them. Nevertheless there were always shadowy places just ahead where it looked dark.

[Omega]

Sombra turned to Carni, "So, any lead on where it might be?"

[Jaemon]

Zodiac walked on in without hesitation. He acted as if they were walking in daylight, and could see everything infront of them. He couldn`t, but it`s how he acted.

[wynnyelle]

"I don't," said Carni. "I've never been here and I'm going on hearsay alone."

"Don't pressure him," said Charna to Sombra. "I smell other pokemon already...somewhere down in the deeper caverns. We need to head deeper." Despite her aversion to caves, she was quite experienced in travelling through them, and here her experience kicked in.

[Omega]

"What lowly creatures other than a zubat would make their home down here?" rhetorically asked Sombra while continuing down the cave.

[wynnyelle]

"The guardians of the stones," said Carni. "They live down in these caves. Legends say there are thousands of them. I don't really know any more than that."

"I just hope they're not hostile," said Charna.

[Jaemon]

Zodiac started to sniff around, until he picked up a scent. He walked quietly, then leaped. Zodiac's leap though, came a little late, for his prey started to take flight. Latching on, Zodiac bit the creature. They flew over Charna, Sombra, and Charni. The flying animal was a Golbat. The Golbat made quite a fight, until Zodiac lost his grip and fell a few feet infront of them. Zodiac rubbed his head, as his head hit the ground hard. Zodiac wanted to chase, but turned around and tumbled back to the group.

"We're under attack!" Charna lighted her electricity, letting sparks cascade over herself. Any pokemon who touched her who wasn't a ground type would be paralysed temporarily, in all likelihood. "We've got to move past the outer caves to the deeper ones where they don't dwell!"

[Omega]

Sombra took Charna's advice and rushed toward a pathway which lead deeper, "This way!"

[wynnyelle]

Charna and Carni quickly ran to follow him, but neither of them could keep up with the much fleeter umbreon. Flaaffy and ampharos were slow pokemon, with short stumpy legs and a waddling gait.

[Jaemon]

Blinking in utter confusion, he ran blindly after the moving figures. He reliezed where he was going, and tried to keep up. He wasn`t much faster than Carni or Charna.

[wynnyelle]

"Don't leave us behind!" bleated Carni, who was not only the slowest pokemon among them, but was still healing from wounds on his body. That slowed him down even further.

[wynnyelle]

Charna kept her lights bright as she ran; so did Carni. They brightened their lights out of instinct, so they could see far and wide as they headed forward and would see where next tehy had to go. They had long since abandoned the daylight; down in this area of the caverns, no sunlight reached. All they had to see by was the sheep.

[Jaemon]

As Zodiac ran, he caught a scent of something again. With a burst of speed, he ran a lot faster. "RAWR!" his voice echoed. Then, a startled rawr came, and Zodiac ran on back to Carni and Charna. Fear was in his eyes. Soon, a Crobat came zooming down the cave tunnel.

[wynnyelle]

"We have angered the daemons!" bleated Charna as they fled from the onslaught of bat pokemon. "It is a sign--a message from the servants of Hazagbris! We have entered a sacred place without permission and against the wishes of the spirits! It may be too late to avoid their wrath!"

[Omega]

"Calm yourself!" yelled Sombra, "A bunch of bats aren't going to hurt us."

[wynnyelle]

"Easy for you whose kind has never been preyed upon to tell others to calm down," said Charna. "For all we know they could be the guardians of this cavern. They clearly live here."

[Paper]

Jupe's eyes widened as a torrent of Zubats flowed like river into the air; The Pokémon around him shouted multiple things at each other, but he wasn't listening, and hadn't really been paying much attention as he followed the crowd. "But we can't just go back!"[/color] Jupe pointed out.

[wynnyelle]

"It is no use trying to go back now," said Charna as the sounds of flapping bat wings filled the air around them. Her lights cast on the bats caused their shadows to flutter all over the cave walls and ceilings. "If we tried to go back now, we might even be killed. No, we have made our choice and we must go forward to meet the rulers of this place, whoever they may be."

[Paper]

Jupe nodded solemnly; he had another thing to think about, unfortunately, too. He was in the Elemental Caves; he might not ever get back again, but did he want to evolve? No.. not yet. It wasn't the right time yet, he silently agreed with himself. "Come on," Jupe said, and began to pad onward with his stomach almost touching the ground.

[wynnyelle]

They were leaving the bats behind now. Up ahead the cavern smelled different. In addition to the smells of other pokemon fading, it smelled dank and stale. As they continued downward, even the staleness faded, until the scents washing through Charna's sinuses were those of pure stone and water. "Hazagbris spare us," she whispered.

[Omega]

Sombra continued onward. Along the walls of the cavern were small chips of colored stones. "What do you suppose these are?" asked Sombra.

[wynnyelle]

"They look like ...well maybe they're evolution stones?" said Charna. Some of them looked duller than others. Interspersed with the coloured stones were glowing rock, that had a phosphorescent glow.

[Omega]

"Perhaps the arceus has a liking for these rocks," suggested Sombra.

[wynnyelle]

"Arceus has no need for the evolution stones," said Carni. "He doesn't need to evolve. I don't think he does. He is just Arceus."

[Omega]

"Who knows?" replied Sombra.
