ic: " A flying caterpie is a butterfree," said Carni. He knew that from his mother telling him that that was where butterfree came from.

Duke stopped laughing to pause and think. "Oh," he grumbled. "Yeah, I guess you're right..."

"No! Not a Caterpee. It was Celebii!" Gashi firmly stated, trying to stomp his little foot but only succeeding with a rustle of grass. "Budderfrees don't just varnish like that."

" Cater..pee." Carni piddled on the grass, then he burst out in a fit of giggles.

"I wanna be a fairy because I'm an ugly mareep," squealed Bailey as if it were obvious. A mareep wasn't supposed to look like a ball of fluffy cotton candy, a fairy was! And that was what she wanted to be.

"i think you're cute," said Rallin, smiling. He wondered if that sounded stupid, so he added, "I think all girl mareeps should look like you."

Gashi made a yucky face. "Eww, gross! Pink everywhere!" the kid coughed. "My eyeballs!"

Rallin laughed. "You think she's ugly Gashi?" Maybe he could start a good little ramming match with the other ramling. He was itching to show off his moves.

"Well I am," said Bailey sourly. "Only miltanks are supposed to be pink," she added, looking at Lilly.

" You're not ugly, Bailey," said Carni, glad he was not the only one calling her pretty. " You're not ugly at all."

"Really?" Two males from the other flock had called her pretty. Did that mean she was? Bailey smiled a little. "Thanks...I still wanna be a fairy though." It meant a lot to her, since most of the ramlings here were like Gashi in that matter of thinking.

" I'm not sure I would want to fly," said Carni. " I like having my hooves on land."

Yes, most of the little ramlings did tip the scale closer to Gashi's standards, but as the youngest and most naive this orange took the cake. "Shwee," Gashi rolled his eyes. "Grownups!"

" Huh?" said Carni, not getting what he said. " What about grownups?"

[Pax]

"Uh... just that they are um... er..." Gashi pondered. "I forget! Hahaha!"

Duke whispered to Carni. "I guess he doesn't like the mooshy stuff they talk about - he obviously sees right through you guys," the Rhyhorn cackled.

Carni scuffed his hoof on the ground. " Well I'm not mushy." That was one thing he was proud not to be.

"I wanna fly," said Bailey. "It looks fun." She grinned and giggled a little, but was able to control herself this time. She heard a sigh of relief from Rallin when she didn't go into a crazy giggle fit. She gabe him a glare and stuck her nose up pointedly.

"Oh don't," said Rallin. He grinned and laughed a little.

"W hat if you fell?" said Carni. " I'm staying right here on the ground." It was interesting to imagine himself flying, but Carni would never actually want those powers.

"Fliers don't fall," said Bailey. She'd never seen a bird fall, anyway.

Furiko had yet to say anything about the subject, but he remained silent anyways. Why say anything in the first place? He's only some Rhyhorn from far away.

" Maybe if we were up there and we were just learning to fly, we would," said Carni.

"Faires are born knowing how to fly," said Bailey as if she was a fairy. And, make a note, she didn't giggle at this.

" They are?" Carni thought about this. " but how do you know?"

[Pax]

Gashi bowed at Bailey. "She knows everything!" But it was incredibly hard to tell whether he was being sarcastic or not.

Carni grinned at Bailey. " Yeah, she's pretty smart isn't she."

[fya]

"Because I just know," said Bailey. She beemed and said. "And guess what?! You guys are smart too because you know I'm really smart!" She giggled a bit, but stopped before it got outragous.

Rallin laughed. "Heh who knows," he said with a smile.

Carni laughed a little, something he rarely did, at least before coming here. Maybe he was smart. He liked to think he was.

Bailey smiled at them. It suddenly dawned on her that they might not stay. She was liking them already, too. Maybe they were just passing through? The little eweling hadn't heard the discussion between the adults. "Are you guys staying?"

" I am," said Carni. " So's my mama. We like it a lot better here than the old flock. It was pretty bad there."

A little up the slope there was a flash of light, and finve second's later a brown form came rolling down head over spiky heels. It gradually slowed, stopped, and resolved itself into an abra lying on his stomach, breathing shakily.

"What a heck of a way to wake up," he muttered, pushing himself upright on weak, atrophed arms.

Although his eyes were still closed he sniffed the air. Just the smell of grass, flowers, wool, lanolin, and ozone greeted his small nostrils. Flowers and grass were easy enough, wool probably meant mareep, lanolin almost confirmed it totally, and and doubt was erased by the tinny stink of ozone that concentrated lightning left in the air.

So, he had probably landed in a feild of one variety or another, a pretty rocky one, judging from his involuntary ride down the slope (that reminded him never to teleport again without fixing locations firmly in his mind, arriving in mid-air had left him with scrapes and bruises all over his weak body). There was probably some sort of herd present, and (hopefully) no more dark pokemon. He'd check through someone else's eyes once the headache stopped pounding his brain. He'd way over reached his teleportation limit in his fear.

What was this? Carni turned his head to look at the stranger. It was a pokemon the likes of which he'd never seen before. " Who are you?" asked the big black mareep, in his usual direct manner.

The abra massaged his head slowly. No doubt about it, he could not let his body go to sleep for a long while. He certainly wasn't up to using telepathy again. That meant keeping the body awake to use it's vocal chords. How annoying.

He jumped in surprise at being addressed, and risked cracking an eyelid open. The sun nearly blinded him, and he quickly closed the lid again, only having got a vague impression of a big black blob.

"I'm Cello," he croaked. Dratted vocal chords, they shouldn't need so much practice in order for the voice to sound vaguely normal. He hadn't used his for at least a month. "What are you, and what's your name?"

"I'm a ram. A mareep ram. You're a....what are you?" Carni wasn't afraid of this new pokemon; he was curious. Best to have him on his good side though. It never hurt to have a friend.
