Inigo licked her cheek. "Aw dun worry bout it beautiful. It'll heal real fast. I'm a fast healer."

Smelling some other pokemon nearby, probably drawn in by the bloodscent, he called, "Whoever it is...better show yerself or I'm a comin' lookin."

[Pidgey]

Ace circled high above the field, scouting for prey. Instead, he spotted a bloodied Furret, along with what looked like an Absol. Slightly concerned, he circled lower, low enough so that they would hear him speak. "Everything okay down there, stranger?" He called.

"Not another bird," said Inigo, looking up at Ace. "If yer coming down here to steal my mate, you might wanna think twice," he said back up at the bird. He had no idea whether this bird would be as hostile as the last, though this was clearly a much smaller bird.

[kratos]

"I don't think this one is after me," Elly said. "I can sense it."

[Pidgey]

If Ace had eyebrows to begin with, he definitely would have raised them at the accusations that came next. "Steal your mate!?" He repeated, surprised. "Dude, I'm a bird, she's a mammal...I don't swing that way." He explained. "I just noticed that you seemed injured, and came by to see if you and your girl were all right."

[wynnyelle]

"I'm not giving it the benefit of the doubt yet," said Inigo. "How can you tell anyway?"

Looking back up at this bird, he could see that it looked a lot less menacing. "At least if this one attacks it won't take much to subdue it." He wasn't up for another battle with an equally powered opponent just yet.

[wynnyelle]

"Well that makes one outta two birdies we met today, that dun swing that way," said Inigo. "Seems you never know these days. Yeah, we're okay, thanks fer stopping by and asking. I gotta say I don't usually get that reception from total strangers." Unless they wanted something.

[kratos]

"I can sense when disasters are about to happen, honey," Elly said. "Did you forget Absols can do that? I'm only half Absol, so I can only sense when something bad is about to happen to me or someone dear to me."

[Pidgey]

"That's just how I was raised...to offer help to those in need." He explained. He could understand why they had seemed suspicious of him at first; no one gave something for nothing anymore. "Name's Ace, by the way."

[wynnyelle]

"I'm Inigo...son of Bathsheba and Nekki Ootachi," said the pale periwinkle furret. "So what brings you to these parts? "

[kratos]

Elly smiled, then yawned. "I'm really tired."

[Pidgey]

"I'm a drifter, looking for a place to settle down." Ace replied. "Maybe an Avian mate to start a family with. Nothing special." He emphasized the word avian, to reassure Inigo that he wasn't after his girl.

His eyes went to the wound on the Furret's back, and he wondered what kind of pokemon could leave a wound like that. He was burning with curiosity, but knew it would be rude to ask questions, so he kept his questions to himself.

"So, if everything's good here, I may as well be on my way." He said. He did not want to wear out his welcome, and he certainly did not want to end up in any fights. Not that he would battle an injured opponent.

[wynnyelle]

"Well, if'n ya wanna head out, feel free, or feel free to hang out here fer a bit," said Inigo, relaxing now that he could tell Ace wasn't going to do any harm.

[kratos]

Elly lied down to take a nap, drained by the weight of the babies.

[wynnyelle]

"We're expecting," said Inigo to Ace. He was so proud, he wanted to tell everyone he met.

[Pidgey]

Ace's wings grew heavy from the effort of flight, so he perched himself in a nearby tree. Folding his wings neatly against his body, he nodded at Inigo's news. "Congratulations." He replied. His eyes slid to the Absol, and her large belly. How had he managed to miss that? His gaze flicked back to Inigo. "And best of luck. So, how does it feel? To be a father, I mean." He questioned.

[wynnyelle]

"Just amazing," said Inigo. "Feel like I'm just walking on air, you know?"

[Pidgey]

"No, I don't know." Ace replied. There was a note of longing in his voice. He clicked his beak, as if deep in thought. "But I'll take your word for it."

[wynnyelle]

"It'll happen ta you too someday, just keep looking," said Inigo. "You never know what's gonna fly by any moment."

[kratos]

"I wanna go inside," Elly muttered in her sleep, obviously dreaming.

[wynnyelle]

"Eh? Inside?" whispered Inigo. Inside a burrow, she must be dreaming of. It reminded Inigo that they had still not found or dug a burrow.

[kratos]

Elly rolled over and began scratching at the ground lazily in her sleep. "Home."

[wynnyelle]

"Awww..." Inigo knew what she must be dreaming about...wherever she had lived before now. She yearned for a home. "Baby, I'm gonna find us and dig us a burrow as soon as ya wake up," he whispered.

[kratos]

About 6 hours later, Elly finally woke up with a yawn. "Hey there, hon."

[wynnyelle]

By that time, Inigo had laid down to sleep next to her. The battle had really taken a lot out of him. But when he heard her voice, his tufted ears both perked straight up. He yawned and stretched, wincing a bit as the gash on his back hurt. "Hey babe," he said with his eyes squinted partly open. "Sleep well?"

[kratos]

"I did, but you're still hurt," she said. "You need to rest."

ooc: I lost the description of Inigo. Can't make the sprite without it.

[wynnyelle]

"Can't rest for long, those kits're gonna be arriving soon and they'll need a den," said Inigo. "They'll need shelter from the elements."

[kratos]

"That's true," Elly sighed. "I wish my Moonlight could heal you."
