The Dennukai ram saw them. He began to charge up his electricity, but by this time they were flying out of reach of him.
Carni charged up faster and aimed his electricity towards the nearest golbat in a Thunder bolt attack.

The golbat collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
The other golbat flapped around the group.
Sombra leaped in the air with an iron tail.
The golbat was hit in the wing with it. It was left, unable to fly.
The crobat was still among the group. It blew some confuse rays around, hitting various prisoners.

"There better not be any more of them!" cried the buneary, who tried to escape the attacks by hiding behind some of the bigger members of the group.
"Huuuaaaaaahhhh!" Huzza released his electricity, finally, frying one of the golbats.

The crobat realized he was outmatched and attempted to flee for reinforcements.
Sombra knew the consequences of the horde. In desperation, he flew forward in a giga impact, crippling the crobat. He turned to the prisoners, "Everyone alright?"

"Don't kill it," said Carni, bleating out for Sombra to stop. "It probably knows a way out of here. We're going to force it to tell us where to go to get free. Just break its wings or something so it can't fly away."

The crobat was severely injured. He would probably never fly again, but he was still conscious.
Sombra walked over to him, "Tell me where the nearest exit is."
The crobat refused to speak.

Carni leaned in and gave the crobat an electric shock, not enough to kill or even stun too badly, but enough for it to hurt a lot. Especially since the crobat was a flying type. "And I'll keep on shocking you till you start talking."
"We's best be gettin' a move on," said Huzza. "T'ain't no good tuh be standin' ere waitin' fer the next attackers what be comin stompin' down this hall."

"Alright, I'll talk!" exclaimed the crobat after the shock, "There's an exit down this hall, and to the left. Go up four staircases and out the door."
"Thank you for the information, we'll be on our way," replied Sombra.
"No!" exclaimed the crobat, "Please, take me with you! I didn't want to join the horde. They invaded my cave back when I was a zubat! They killed my entire family! I had no choice but to join their ranks!"

"How do we know he's not lying?" said Carni. He looked at the crobat. "Fine, we'll follow and see. But we need a backup plan. Everyone had better be prepared in case he's lying."

"I'm not lying!" plead the crobat, "I attacked you because I had to. They would eat me alive if I disobeyed orders! Now let's quit arguing and get out of here! I'm the only guard stationed in this sector. We can make it."
Sombra narrowed his eyes, "So be it. But you're in no condition to fly."

Carni knew he was lying. Horde members didn't just turn on their own like that...did they? No, he knew the crobat was lying. "He's probably going to lead us straight into an army or something. Though it can't hurt to check it out...we have no other leads. Let's at least get out of here."

"For the last fucking time, I'm not lying!" exclaimed the crobat.
"Calm down," replied Sombra.
The crobat grunted before rising and resuming flight. His flight pattern was severely distorted, but he was still able to keep himself above the ground.

"You shouldn't have let him go," said Carni. "Now he can go back to the Horde if he wants to." Carni was surprised that he could fly at all. He wasn't taking the crobat's insistence to heart. Of course the crobat would want them to believe he was telling the truth!

The group followed the crobat. At the end of the hall, they turned left and opened a door. The walls in the room were rounded. Along the walls were staircases in a screw shape.
"Four staircases, you said?" asked Sombra.
"One complete rotation around the room is a staircase," replied the crobat.
The group followed up four staircases and came upon a door in the wall. Sombra opened it before his eyes widening. They were outside, but not free.
"General Slashthroat!?" cried the crobat.
General Slashthroat was outside, but with reinforcements. He had six skarmory with him. "Aiding the prisoners! Mutiny! I knew you couldn't be trusted! I should have just left you to die in that cave!"

But he was too heavy to run...all he could do was waddle faster. And electrify himself. |

The skarmory became confused and began attacking each other.
Slashthroat, who was immune to the confuse ray, still stood. He lunged at the crobat with a body slam, only to be hit in the face with another of Sombra's iron tails.
Blood trickled from Slashthroat's mouth, but he was still able to battle. He attacked Sombra with a slash.
A gash ran down Sombra's side.
The crobat flew up in the air and attacked Slashthroat with an air cutter.
Slashthroat fell on his back.
Sombra ran toward him with a giga impact. He hit the general right in the chest.

"That's what you get for enslaving Veneno!" yelled the crobat as he flew back to the group.
"We should make a break for it while they're distracted," suggested Sombra.

Zodiac ran out of no where, and started to gnaw on Gemeral Slashthroat's arm. "Food...." mumbled Zodiac.

An arcanine breathed a barrage of flames at Zodiac. "You should have run when you could," said another arcanine, moving to try and cut Zodiac off from escape.

It was too late for the shinx. His gaunt face was motionless. Breath no longer drew from his nose. He had starved to death.
"How's my little brother?" asked the luxio, "Is he OK?"

"'E's..." Huzza looked sadly down at the still shinx. He then looked even more sadly to the luxio. "Ay'm verra' sorry...but...'e's dead."

The luxio's eyes widened. He darted to his brother's side, "Spark! Spark! Don't die on me!" The luxio's eyes filled with tears, "Please! You're the only family I have left!" The luxio rested his head on the shinx's corpse. "No... Please... No..."
Sombra walked over to the mourning luxio and rested his paw on his back in sympathy.

"Ahm sorry," said Huzza. He looked like he truly meant it, and he did. He laid the shinx's body down near where his brother could spend a few moments with it if he needed to. He looked down at the shinx...poor little kitten was barely a feather in weight anymore. Just nothing but skin and bones. "Pawr lil kitty...ne'er had a chance."

The luxio sat down next to what had become of his brother, tears running down his face. He began to tell his story, "When I was about his age, our pack was attacked by the horde. He was just a baby, but we managed to escape. From that moment on, I promised that I would always watch out for him. We became best friends. We were all each other needed. About a month ago, we happened upon some members of the horde. They promised not to harm us if we went silently. They took us to the dungeon and interrogated us, asking us if we knew anything about an arceus named Alcatraz. We knew nothing, so they locked us up."

"Yes," replied Sombra, "But right now, there's another problem on our hands. We should get some sustenance into these prisoners." He looked over the prisoners. The luxio looked like a skeleton with fur. Some of the prisoners hadn't been imprisoned for more than a few days, but some had been without food for weeks on end.
The piplup spoke up, "Do you think there's any meat left on that shinx?"
In an instant, the luxio lunged at the piplup with a savage take down, "How dare you so much as suggest befouling my brother!"
"How dare you say that right after attacking my brother!" exclaimed the prinplup, preparing for a metal claw.
