"That's good, Flare, that's really good," said Luzia, knowing at the same time that herbs would do nothing to actually heal a broken bone. Flare's legs would always be crippled.

"If he can feel his legs and they don't hurt," replied Sombra, "He's definitely healing."

"Healing, but not healing like the legs were before," said Luzia. "I've seen prisoners get broken bones. They take days and days to heal, and then, they're never the same as they were." She spoke quietly, not wanting to scare Flare. He might not handle the truth well. "Herbs can't heal a broken bone, only relieve pain."

"The herbs you know of, anyway," replied Sombra, "Who knows? These berries could heal his legs."

ooc: Herbs will not heal broken bones back the way they were before. They will help the wound heal over but the bones will heal out of alignment.
ic: "That's true...still...the things I've seen," said Luzia. "I'm just scared."

OOC: I created the gungo berries. Doesn't that make it my decision?
"That's natural. But have faith," replied Sombra.

ooc: They can't heal broken bones perfectly. That just doesn't make sense. I approved that they can help wounds heal faster. Nothing was said about magically aligning broken bones to be perfectly mended. Veterinary attention and setting into a splint or cast is required for that.
ic: "I will," said Luzia. "I--I have to. For Flare."

OOC: A lot of things in Pokemon don't make sense.
"What'th wrong, momma?" asked Flare.

Luzia sniffled and wiped her face. "Nothing, honey...nothing. Mommy's okay." She nuzzled him. "You just concentrate on getting better."

Sombra went to check on Flare. "So, son. Which legs hurt?"
"Jutht thith one, poppa," he replied, gesturing toward his front left leg.
"Oh, that's a relief," replied Sombra, "I thought all of them were broken."

"That's wonderful news!" said Luzia. "Maybe the others were just bruised not broken."

"Dey did hurd, bud nod ath bad," replied Flare.
Sombra spoke quietly to Luzia, "Well, at least we can be assured that if he remains a cripple, he'll still be able to walk."

"Let's not use the word cripple around him," said Luzia, lowering her voice. "I don't want to scare him or make him think that he won't be able to do everything that the others can do. And now that Flare is feeling better, one of us needs to go look for Aeroth and Rappella. They still haven't returned."

"I wouldn't worry," replied Sombra, "If they survive the night, they'll come crawling back to us."

"How can you say that?" A tear rolled down Luzia's face. "They could get eaten at any second! Don't you remember the pidgeot?"

"Eaten?" asked Aqua with terror in her eyes.
"It was their decision to leave," replied Sombra, "We tried to stop them, but they asserted themselves. I am washing my paws of the situation. If they make it home, I will welcome them with love. If they don't, it's not my issue."

"They're barely old enough to eat meat." Luzia broke down crying. "If you won't go look for them then I will!" She ran out into the forest, calling for her lost babies.

"Luzia! You come back here!" yelled Sombra.
"Mommy! I'm going with you!" cried Aqua as she began to dash after her.
"No you're not!" yelled Sombra as he blocked the exit, "You're staying right here!"
"But, I don't want Aeroth to die!" replied Aqua.

Luzia stopped in her tracks when Sombra ordered her to. She turned around and came walking back to him, feeling ashamed for having stepped out of line. "Please, Sombra, please," she pleaded, in tears, "we can't just leave them out there."

"It was the will of their own stupidity that they leave," replied Sombra, "I shan't have any idiots in my family."
"Yeah, I hope stupid Rappella gets eaten!" chimed Volt.
"But, Aeroth! He saved my life!" replied Aqua with tears in her eyes.

Luzia crumpled into a ball as she sobbed heavily. The things she was hearing felt like something out of a nightmare. That was what this was--a nightmare. "They're not idiots...they're kits...they're only little babies."

Volt began to feel guilt as he saw his mother weep.
"I tried to keep Rappella in check, but she did not cease," replied Sombra, "She starts a fight with Volt even after I scolded her for doing so, then she lied about it."
The guilt ate away at Volt until his conscious was too heavy for him to handle, "Yeah, daddy, about that. Rappella didn't lie. I did. I started the fight."
"WHAT?!" replied Sombra. Before Volt could even answer him, Sombra had dashed out of the den with every ounce of strength in his body, "RAPPELLA! WHERE ARE YOU!?"

"Sombra!" Luzia could only watch as her mate shot out of the den. Was that all it had taken for him to change his mind completely about their daughter? How cold and shallow could he be? Even if she had lied, Rappella was still a kit. But sombra clearly cared now, and that was all that Luzia really needed to know.

Sombra kept running. He would not return home until he had found his children, dead or alive. "Rappella! Aeroth!"

Luzia quietly let the tears trickle down her face. She was having so many doubts and misgivings, not to mention being worried out of her skull over their two missing kits. Sombra seemed to only love them if they acted the way he expected and wanted them to. If they became difficult, they were termed idiots and written off as though they weren't worth their skins. That was not what she had envisioned in a mate. She knew she would never leave Sombra--she had given her word and herself to him--nor would she ever criticise him. But she was learning some hard truths.
She groomed all three of her remaining kits, trying to put aside her wrecked emotions. She had to pull herself together.

"Who cares," replied Volt, "Rappella's stupid and Aeroth almost got you killed."
