(lol nice)
Zeelo froze at the word Amira. Litrally, his blood ran cold and his muscles tensed. He stared wide-eyed at the bird Pokemon. But no, Amira WOULD attack them straight away, he knew that better than anyone else. He winced at the meer memory and relaxed his position. They'd only assumed it was her anyway. There were two Rayquazas, why not two Darkrais?
He shook the thought away. Surely his master wouldn't find it so amusing if it indeed was Amira. He raised his head again as a question was directed at him. "Near the gate over there... sir," he said, reminding himself of his new command. "There were approximately 10, and they don't show their face very often, so you aren't likely to have seen them. I myself hadn't really noticed them before hand."
He looked over at Luna, seeing her shocked expression. "I don't attack without command," he said, answering her unasked question.

The umbreon looked away, frowning a the ground. "Idiot..." she grumbled. Needless to say, she was a little more worried about his safety than his loyalty to the Shadowlord. But, that was Zeelo for you. She probably should've expected that response.
But something else caught her attention: Zeelo was afraid of this Amira. But he was fine now, so she thought nothing of it.

(I'm sorry it took me a long time to get to this! The shop has picked up business, which is good for me, but it makes it much more difficult to balance Real Life and RPing T-T)
Chancol couldn't exactly take Zeelo's placement of command over survival and common sense, and thus caused the deadfire charmeleon to react curtly, "Sure, you say that because you say you're loyal, but how the hell does that portray loyalty when you don't even try to live to assist those you pledge your allegiance to? It makes no sense at all to me..." he groaned.
Regaining his composure, the Shadowlord raised a claw towards Zeelo, "Since you won't defend yourself on your own damned accord, I order you to rally enough soldiers that will follow your command and take out these scyther that you speak of, and I don't care if they've formed their own clan with children and prisoners of of our side somewhere within the complex, kill anyone and everyone you see associated and captured by them! Got it?" he smirked, then shifted his gaze towards Luna, "You're second in command in his ranks, you must ensure that he takes care of the job..."
The charmeleon turned his back to the two, and gave a wave of dismissal, "Now, I need to confront this newcomer, I cannot waste anymore time guessing whether or not this thing is an enemy or ally..." as he finished up his words, his body slowly faded from the bottom up into what looked like a cloud of black sand being blown away by the wind towards the ruins that lay in the sights of the Fortress.

Luna nodded as Chancol took his leave. She couldn't help but smirk, knowing he was on her side when it came to Zeelo's safety.
She turned to Zeelo. "Well, let's start that army," she said with a smile. Her job was clearly stated, and she would make sure she did it right. Of course, she also had to make sure Zeelo did his job. She didn't mind, though. It meant she got to spend some time with him-if even just a little.

Zeelo cringed away as he was reprimanded for his behaviour, unconciously expecting to be attacked. He'd been away from Amira for a long time now, but old habbits die hard after all, and every time he did something wrong, he thought his Mistress would punish him. Though Chancol never did.
He straightened up and nodded as Chancol gave his orders, partly watching Luna's reaction to his words, before bowing as he left. The second Chancol had disappeared, Zeelo whined and lay down, his head between his paws, yellow rings fizzing into blackness.
He hated fighting. Sentencing Pokemon to death? Why? What was the point? Zeelo was a volenteer for the Horde, since he'd come with Amira. He still had her aura around him, which was probably why he'd never been shadowed. Chancol's shadow aura had never affected him. In theory he could leave whenever he wanted to. But he wouldn't even know what to do in the outside world, he'd only ever lived to serve.
It was only partly true that he hadn't faught back because he hadn't been told to. He also hadn't faught back because he hadn't wanted to hurt them. He could be quite powerful sometimes, when he wanted to be of course, but he didn't like it. And now he had to go and kill someone, and their whole family just because he hadn't wanted to hurt them originally.
That wasn't fair. But there was nothing he could do about it. He couldn't argue with CHancol, he was his master. And he couldn't just not do it, that was disobeying an order. He closed his eyes, practically disappearing into the shadow as he often did to deal with problems.

Before Luna could get her thoughts straight, Zeelo was on the ground. "Huh? What in the-" she stopped when she heard an odd sound come from him.
"Zeelo, what's wrong?" she asked, taking a sitting position in front of him. Her eyes filled with worry. "You're not hurt, are you? I mean, are the wounds that bad?" she continued, looking him over quickly. Nothing seemed wrong. But, he had never acted this way before. Something was really bothering him, which bothered her.

"No," he answered honestly. They were mostly just small cuts which looked a lot worse against his black fur, where their unique colour stood out rather than blending in like they did with most Pokemon. "They barely hurt, I wish I hadn't brought them up." That was also honest. If he'd remained silent, perhaps defended the Scyther...
Anyway, he wasn't hurt, like I said, they were mainly just little flesh wounds, when the Scyther's had tried to decide how far they could go before her faught back or ran off. It wasn't really that they were dangerous or a threat, they just wanted to be acknowledged really.
Well, ok, maybe he was making this up now, he couldn't tell. Situations always looked different depending on how you felt at the time. Now he wanted to protect them, and was trying to make them look innocent. Whether what he thought was true or not was quite hard to figure out.

Luna frowned. Though he had told her the truth, her question was never answered. She still had no idea what was bothering him.
She sighed. "You know, you don't have to hide anything from me," she told him. For goodness' sake, they were supposed to tell each other everything. It came with the package.
She stood up. It was still wrong for her to pry, regardless of how close they were. He didn't have to tell her anything. What angered her was the reason he wouldn't tell her. Did he think she'd make fun of him? Never! She would do no such thing.
But she decided not to push the subject further. Zeelo would tell her when he was ready. If he was ever ready....

Zeelo sighed. She was right after all, he could tell her anything. But would she think he was betraying her? He didn't even think Chancol knew he wasn't shadowed, never mind Luna. Would she think he was like an outsider? What if someone overheard them and turned him in? Would he be kicked out? He'd said it a million times by now, he couldn't survive out there alone.
Or worse... would he be force-shadowed? He nearly shuddered just thinking about it. He'd seen it happen, it didn't look pleasant. And in all honesty he was scared. The shadow aura didn't really look like something he wanted to invade him.
And the whole not-wanting-to-fight thing made him look like a wimp, like he couldn't fight not that he didn't want to. How would Luna react to that? Probably the same as she reacted to everything, that was why he loved her. It was such a strange feeling, the only thing that he ever wanted to do other than obey his master was to be with her. Love was parallel with his desire to serve, and if he was with one and not the other, that the other could be over-ruled.
That nonsense probably only made sense to him though. To put it simply, when he looked up into her eyes just then, he felt no need to follow Chancol's orders. He only had to be with her. He sighed, propping his head up so it didn't look like he was sulking.
He decided to go with the slightly less suprising thing. "I... well I don't like fighting," he said, honestly. "I don't like pointless murder. So I don't particularly want to go and... attack the Scyther. But I have to follow orders." He sighed, voicing the dilema hadn't helped much.

Luna smiled softly, turning to look at him. Why didn't she think of that? Of course that was the problem.
She sat down in front of him once more, still smiling. But she didn't know what to do; it's not like she wanted to kill women and children. Being a female, she couldn't handle that. And she adored children. But the trouble the duo would get in if they didn't complete the mission! The possibilities were endless!
How she wished she could get Zeelo out! She wished she could set him free, somehow. She wished they could just live happily together and have no worries.
But that couldn't happen. Zeelo wouldn't stand for it. He wouldn't leave. She was never shadowed, but he was bound here. And what hurt her heart the most was that he had never been free; she was a child once. She played in fields and splashed in puddles. He never had that. He was born into the horde, wasn't he?
She bit her lip, the smile falling. "I suppose you'll just have to do what you believe is right," she whispered. Useless. He'd do what he was told. Which is why he was put in charge, probably. She wouldn't be able to do it, and Chancol knew that. She wasn;t a fighter, if her near-death experience with not only an umbreon but a machok weren't enough to prove that. She'd be lost without help.

(Awww that's sweet)
Zeelo smiled back at her, pushing himself up so he was sat down instead of lieing on the floor. "That's the problem," he answered. "I don't know what's right. Surely it's right to follow my master's orders, but theres such a strong feeling inside me that totally condradicts it." It was so confusing, he normally just followed orders, but Luna seemed to free him from that. He didn't normally feel the need to defy Chancol.
He sighed. Luna was so bad for him in that way. He never felt the need to disobey anything before her, but now? Urgh, it made his head hurt.

Luna laughed lightly. "That's your heart! It's the feeling you're supposed to follow," she told him. She was happy that he was sitting up now; now she wouldn't have to look down at him.
But the fact that he was hesitating made her even happier. That meant change was tacking place. He's one step closer to freedom. Well, that thought would certainly get her into trouble. It was the same as rebellion, which was wrong.
"Hey...next time, will you promise me you'll protect yourself?" she asked randomly, turning serious. Not only was that half the reason they were in this mess, but it also scared the lights out of her. She'd have to start following him around to make sure he didn't get hurt again. Even if it was a small attack, or it didn't hurt, or whatever, she wanted him safe.

Zeelo smiled back at her. The sound of her laughter was like the most beautiful music you could imagine. Better than that even. He would do anything to hear that laugh. Anything.
Or would he? It was hard to tell. According to Luna the nagging feeling was his heart, and he was meant to follow it. If that was true, his path was simple - go with Luna, live with Luna, follow Luna, help Luna. Help, not obey. It didn't feel like he had to do what she said, like she ordered him around. he could very easily say no to her, though he rarely did.
Of course, if he followed his head, did what his mind told him to do, then it was much harder. His mind told him to stay with Chancol, to obey his master like he'd always been taught. No difference, just live his normal life. Except... well, no offense to Chancol or anything, but he just wasn't what Zeelo was used to. It unnerved him to be around the strange little Charmeleon. It was much easy to disobey him than it was with Amira. And that was wrong. But still, no matter who his master was, he was always taught to follow them.
So...
Head or heart?

Even though he was smiling, Luna could tell he was dealing with some inner conflict. Whether it was the situation at hand or not was unknown to her. This was Zeelo, after all. He could be thinking about anything.
She had complete faith that, in the end, he'd do what was right in his eyes. And she would not question what he thought was right; she would just go with it. But, she didn't want him to carry the burden alone. Who would wish that on anybody?
There were two options here: she could ask him now and hurry the decision-making (whatever that decision may be), but that would be pressure, which wasn't fun. Or, she could be quiet and let him deal with it on his own, but that was cruel.
So...what to do, what to do...?
She moved closer and leaned against him, closing her eyes and sighing. All he needed was support, which she would gladly give to him.

Zeelo's ears rose in suprise as she leant against him. He relaxed and smiled, leaning his chin on the top of her head and closing his eyes. The moon shone above them, creeping out between the clouds to shine down on them.
(Don't you think they look really sweet like that? Awwww, I want to hug them!)
Of course, this made his heart ache more. He'd love to just take her away from this aweful place, to run and never stop, as long as he was by her side. But as soon as he thought this, his brain would kick into action again. This place wasn't aweful, it was home. And Zeelo belonged here, or wherever Chancol was at least... Or did he?
"Luna?" he said, lifting his head off her to look down. "You know what you said before, about my heart was the feeling I was supposed to follow? Is that right? I mean, what happens if your heart is telling you one think and your head is telling you something else? Which one do you do?"

Luna was surprised by the now broken silence. But she didn't move to look at him or anything. She seemed to be in thought. No, she had her answer. She just wanted to word it properly.
"It's true that maybe sometimes it's better to follow your head; it's a logical decision rather than an emotional one. But, my mother always told me that the heart knows best. And I've learned that if I don't do what my heart says, I'll regret it later,." she answered. She finally looked up to him. "In your case, you'll have to do what seems right. Because, to one person, the heart is wrong. But to another, it's the obvious decision. It all depends on who you are, I suppose. But, like I said, I usually follow my heart."

Zeelo's ears fell. Of course Luna would say heart. And, of course, she was right. But it was never that easy. Now he wanted to escape with her. He knew he shouldn't, knew he couldn't. knew he wouldn't, but he still wanted to.
Chancol would find them. If not him then Amira. And he wouldn't put Luna in danger like that, it just wouldn't be fair. He looked away, back up at the sky. Chancol. Could he really stop them? Amira was long gone, he shouldn't worry about her, plus, if she did come back, she'd have bigger problems than two runaways. So Chancol was there only threat.
He jumped in shock. He'd just called his master a threat! No! That was wrong! Right? Urgh, so confusing, things were never as easy as they should be...

Luna watched him for a while with frown. "Was that not the right answer?" she asked. By his reaction, it wasn't what he wanted to hear. But she didn't know how to keep him happy.
She sighed. "How about you do what you want, instead of asking my opinion," she told him with a small smile. She wondered if anyone had just let Zeelo do what he wanted instead of telling him what to do. She wasn't going to tell him what to do. She wasn't like the others. She wanted him to be happy.

Zeelo blinked, suprised. He couldn't remember anyone ever telling him to do what he wanted. He sighed and smiled at Luna. "Honestly? That makes it worse," he replied, honestly. Would it be easier to just tell her what was wrong, would she understand?
He sighed again, looking down at her. "I'm stuck," he said, deciding to tell her at least half of it, "between two decisions. One of them involves the Horde, the other doesn't. My heart wants one, my head wants the other. Which one do I do?"

She sighed heavily. Why ask her? He knew good and well what she'd say: follow your heart! But that was just her personality. He was completely different.
"I'm not going to tell you what to do. Just think about whichever means the most to you," she told him. "Then, think about the possibilities. Find out the pro's and con's about each, and decide which one you're willing to live with the rest of your life," she explained. OKay, maybe not the REST of his life. That was a little dramatic. But, it was a decision he would have to live with and she wanted to make sure he had no regrets.
Though, she wished he's just tell her straight what was wrong.

His ears lowered again, because her advice still didn't really help. Again it seemed to make the fight inside him worse. He knew he shouldn't keep secrets form her, he wasn't really hiding anything. But he might as well tell her.
"Luna..." he began, frowning as he tried to word his problem. "I've been brought up to be a follower. I obey my master no matter whi that master might be. At the moment it's Chancol, but he's nowhere near as strict as Amira. I don't feel as bound to him as I did to her. I can almost defy him, well, sort of." He wasn't sure if she knew about Amira or not, but she'd hopefully understand what he meant about her being strict.
"Now I'm faced with a difficult situation," he started again. "I don't know whether to stay here with Chancol, do what he says, help the Horde, etcetra etcetra... or run away with you. Because you shouldn't be here, you can have a better life. I don't know what to do if I'm given free-reign, I'm meant to take orders. You can live a normal life like everyone else. So whatever I decide, I want you to go anwa. Whether i come with you or not is irrelevant." He hadn't planned to say that, the bit about Luna leaving, but he'd figured out whilst he was talking, and twisted his words to include it. He hoped she'd do what he said but didn't really expect her to.

Luna sat in shock for a moment. She couldn't stop images of her life with Zeelo outside the horde from coming to her head. Such nice thoughts...
She shook the thoughts off quickly. She had no problem leaving. But she wasn't going anywhere without him. "I want YOU to have a normal life," she told him, frowning. Then she stood. "If you stay, I stay."
Yeah, she was being stubborn. Yeah, she could make this easy for him. No, she couldn't function normally without him.
She let her head drop, hiding her eyes from him. "Zeelo...I..." she paused and took a deep breath. Here it was: her chance to free him. To show him what life can be like.
"Would you really do that?" she finally whispered. "Would you really run away with me?" It might have come out in an accusing tone, but she didn't mean it that way. Why try if he wouldn't have any part in it?

"I would if I could," he answered honestly. "I want more than anything to take you away from here, to run away and be with you forever. But I can't, I was brought up to take orders, I wouldn't know what to do without them. I couldn't survive out there alone."
Not entirely true. Not anymore anyway. And it was all Chancol's fault! No matter how you looked at it, it was Chancol's fault that all this had happened. He made Luna and Zeelo work together originally, he wa sthe one who was trying to make Zeelo more independant, he was the one who was much easy to defy than Amira, but he was also Zeelo's master. But it was wierd, Zeelo didn't think of him as a master, not really. Well, he did, but the word seemed too strong for Chancol. He made Zeelo seem more equal, less of a slave than Amira ever did.
He shook his head. So many confusing thoughts. But at least he'd told Luna, that seemed to lighten the load a bit.

Luna forced a smile and looked at at him.
~But I can't.~
That was all she heard. Those words stabbed her heart. And the worst part? She expected something like that. That's what made the pain seem so pointless...it shouldn't have hurt. But it did.
But it would be over her dead body if he knew how much it hurt. So, she kept up a strong, smiling mask.
~I couldn't survive out there alone.~
The corner of her mouth twitched when she remembered that. Finally, she was frowning once more and could only stare at him like he had grown another head.
"What in the world convinced you that you'd be alone?" she demanded. "Where would I be?" She couldn't help but be a little angry. She loved him with all her heart, but he obviously didn't think that statement through. She wasn't going to leave him alone to defend for himself! That made her wonder what he really thought about her.

Zeelo smiled back at her, but jumped as she started talking. She sounded angry. No, that was the last thing he wanted. He bowed his head to her in appology. But her words made sense. Well, to her, Zeelo had other ideas.
"I wouldn't want to burden myself on you. You need to take care of yourself, but of course I'd help with that how ever I could. But I wouldn't want you to have to deal with me as well. If that makes sense... which it probably doesn't..." he said, trailing off at the end. "What I'm trying to say is I wouldn't want you to be forced to look after me, you're much too important to me for that. I'd want you to go and have fun, never mind my inability to cope."
He sighed. he was never good with words. The only things he used to need to say was 'yes mistress' or now, 'yes master'. That was never difficult. He never needed to string words together in intellegent sentences, so he wouldn't be surprised if Luna didn't have a clue what he was talking about.

Luna's anger was dulled for now. In fact, a real smile had replaced her frown. "Is that it? Of course!" she mumbled. His heart was in the right place, she knew. He just wanted her to be happy. But what he didn't understand is that she could never be happy if he wasn't with her.
She laughed and moved closer to him. "Oh, Zeelo! You're such a burden! I don't know how I manage to keep up with you!" she joked, nudging him slightly. "You're stronger than me, remember? I think you could take care of yourself. All I do is worry about you. But I cant really help that," she told him. She was laughing once more. "I'd rather not be the reason you miss out on life. I lived; I played; I had fun. There are millions of stories I could tell you of when I explored my home with my brother, the times I got in trouble, the times my mother bailed me out." She winced at the memory. "I got in HUGE trouble with mom when that Tropius chased me around the rainforest..."
"Anyway, I don't think you have an inability to cope," she said seriously now. She stopped and shook her head. She wasn't going to finish. She wasn't going to explain herself. She was staying if he stayed and going if he went. She had decided now. And he wasn't going to change that.

"Are you sure?" he asked, but he didn't listen to her answer, he already knew what it would be. That was good. Everything was good, and his heart seemed to be winning in the inner fight. But surely it was wrong. Wrong wrong wrong. Though at the same time it seemed so right.
He smiled down at her. She was pressed up close to him again and he lay his chin on her forhead lightly. His smile faltered slightly as his thoughts battled again, but he didn't want to deal with them now. He'd pretty much made his decision by now.
He closed his eyes, and hummed the tune to the song he'd made for Luna, letting the sound block out his thoughts.

"Yes..." she faded off with a yawn. Her eyes started to close. She hadn't realized that she was sleepy until now. All of a sudden, her body screamed for her to sleep. How strange.
She shouldn't fall asleep now. That meant Zeelo would have to drag her off somewhere. Maybe she could make it to somewhere safer...but then the song reached her ears. She smiled and forgot about her previous thoughts. All that filled her head was Zeelo. He was with her, in a beautiful place. And they were free.
And so she fell asleep, smiling.

Zeelo smiled down at her, feeling her slump slightly as she fell asleep. He lay down on the floor, so she was lay down in front of him, and rested his head on her back. He kept humming, though his own eyes were closing as well. His song trailed off at the end as he fell asleep, his red eyes disappearing into the darkness, his yellow rings going out as well.
A protect shot up around the two of them, made by Zeelo without him even noticing he was doing it. It was instinctive to protect her. He wouldn't let Luna get hurt, even when he was sleeping. Pretty cool really.
(Does Chancol know Luna and Zeelo are in love?)

((I think he suspects something's going on, but he's not sure what...so I don't think so. I guess only Cliffy would know. ^__^))
~~The Next Morning~~
Luna jumped slightly when the sun came up. She looked around, taking in her surroundings, then relaxed. She remembered where she was now. Her breathing became normal once more. Funny, she hadn't realized she was panting. Must've been that nightmare...
She started to get up, but felt Zeelo's head on her back and froze. She hoped she didn't wake him up.
She sighed and laughed quietly to herself. "It'd be pretty bad if Chancol walked up and we were still here..." she muttered. She couldn't smell anything, though. That frightened her a little, but she didn't dwell on it.
