As Lilyana came closer to the pokemon she could sense a touch of fear in one of their minds she had already forgotten about the other pokmeon this pokemon was quite interesting she had never felt a mind like it. She didnt want to scare the pokemon so she slowed down a pace and backed her mind out of its mind. Her scales were still shining so she turned them down a tone to make them last longer

"I'm here." Crys swam sideways towards him till their fins brushed. "Hey maybe if we keep talking we won't get lost. It's the only way I know where you are in here." They had swum a way in now and she could see nothing.

Gads gave a gill flap of relief. "Oh good. I didn't loose you." He stretched his tail out to make contact with Crys. "Talking is good for me. " Gads bobbed along, feeling his way in the dark and keeping his friend in contact, "So, uh, what should we talk about? I don't really know that much about anything, 'cept maybe little bits of food. I know a little about that."
The potbellied horsea hoped that they'd find a way out soon. As much as he loathed to go out into it, he was starting to miss the light.

As Lilyana followed the 2 pokemon her light was started to run low but it still was bright and she knew if she was to help these pokemon it would be to do it now or never. So Lilyana with the sudden urge intensified the psychic waves and sped towards the pokemon, but so they didnt get scared and run away she sent them a warning using the mind waves to talk to the Pokemon. "I am coming up behind you please do not run off i am a Finneon and i am here to help you"

Gads had no idea what a finneon was, but the sensation of someone elses' voice in his head was freaking him out. "Crys... did you hear that? Crys, what's going on?"
Gads jerked his body left and right. He felt his heart jumping each time he met with an unfamiliar surface. "Oh Crys, oh Crys oh Crys, what are we going to do?" Gads shifted his eyes in socket hoping beyond hope there might be a little light somewhere. Even the tiniest promise of a way out would be welcomed.

Lilyana was now speeding towards the 2 pokemon and soon she reaced them and she knew one of them was scared so she calmed it down with a soothing voice saying "Hello Im the Finneon that spoke to you in your mind dont worry i will help you out of here now where is your friend gone there were 2 of you wernt there" Lilyana was worried she couldnt see the other pokemon.

Gads made his way towards the new voice. He could no longer find Crys and could only hope that she had somehow slipped passed him and found her way out.
Rocking his body awkwardly, Gads stretched the tip of his tail forward, twisting it in and out of the slippery algae growths. "Okay, I'm here. I'm feeling a little more than freaked out right about now. I'd really like to get out of here... uh, but not too far out of here. Just enough to see a little light and keep out of the way of larger things with big teeth."

Gads waited.... and waited.
He twisted his tail in and out of the slippery strands growing off the cavern's walls nervously. There was no one around him.
~It's just as well, ~ he thought sadly to himself, ~Crys probably made her way out of her on her own and that voice I heard must have just been my imagination running away with me. Now I'm just a little lost, and very hungry.~
Gads rocked and tightened his grip on a squishy tendril.
The twist of soft slime squeezed back around his tail, and began to push up-wards along his body.
~It's just my imagination, it's just my imagination~ Gads repeated over and over again in his head as he tried to release himself from the tentacle. The pot bellied horsea struggled and wriggled and felt his entire short life flash before his eyes. He couldn't even manage a scream of fright as a second slippery arm began to wrap around his belly.

A little farther down the dark tunnel lived an unlikely pokemon. Jerking awake, Lumina felt vibrations in the water that indicated some sort of fight.
"An octillery!!" Lumina hissed. "How could I not have smelled that stench until now!? It must've entered my home when I was out last night."
The young dratini, only 9 in human years, started to back away when it caught a smell it didn't recognize. "It's prey", she realized. She knew that she couldn't run now that someone was in danger. Taking one last look toward her escape route, she raced toward the octillery and the poor stuggling pokemon with the confidence of someone used to dark places.
Lumina hadn't gotten far when she dimly saw a large red creature with something almost as dark as the cavern walls caught in its tentacles. Before the octillery could react she shocked it with a thunder waver, instantly paralyzing it.
Knowing there wasn't much time, she frantically whispered, "Can you move? We need to get out of here!"

Gads gurgled, then squeaked. Though the shock was not meant for him, the effects had clamped his fins tightly for a moment, squeezing his gills shut and giving his innards a tight uncomfortable clench. He drifted downwards a few moments in a slow drift he could feel intensely across the slimy surface of his scales in such detail, it was like he was dreaming.
He jerked forward when the first sensation of regaining his ability to move tingled. "Crys? that you?" Gads looked around, trying to pick out a source of light in the dark cavern. "Keep talking. I'll try to follow. "
He hoped the voice was one he knew. He hoped that if he didn't know it , it was friendly. ~I should have been more careful.~ he thought to himself.

(oops I meant that Lumina is 9 in pokemon years)
The young dratini hesitated, wondering if she could trust this pokemon. Although see couldn't see it completely clearly, she could tell by its shape that it wasn't a pokemon she'd encountered before.
~Well if it turns out to be another predator, I can always paralyze it and run.~ she thought or at least she hoped.
Finally, she reluctantly charged her body with electricity just enough that the pokemon could see her. The light of the electricity showed a blue-eyed dratini with a full length about six feet and a half long but only about a foot in circumference at her widest. The most shocking part of her, however, was that where perfectly camouflaged blue scales should have been were dazzling silver scales which made her light up all the brighter. She still couldn't clearly see the pokemon, though and that made her a little nervous, but she couldn't afford to hang around here anymore.
"I don't know who or where this Crys is, but we need to leave now," she whispered, nervously stealing a glance to where the octillery still lay. "The octillery won't be paralyzed forever and I can only use thunder wave a few more times since I'm not really an electric pokemon."
She started to swim away. "Follow me. The exits not much farther and please hurry," she pleaded.

Gads eyes picked out the electric light emitted from the pokemon who rescued him from death's clutches. It looked like it could be a species familiar to him, but not quite. He thought of how his father once described his mother to him, a sleek body and longer fins upon her head. Maybe this was a relation to him? One of his siblings perhaps?
"I can just barely see you. I'll hurry." Gads pushed his aching body along as fast as he could manage. His big plate-like eyes hungrily sought the light as a goal he must reach at all costs. His gills flapped faster and faster. This pokemon was not his friend Crys, but maybe it knew where she'd gone.
~Oh no!~ He thought suddenly, ~What if Crys got eaten by that... thing??!~
Gads huffed harder, until he floated in front of the pokemon who'd saved him. "You lead, I'll follow, just please, get me out of this place." He puffed between flaps of his gills. "And thank you for helping me."

While the pokemon swam along, Lumina didn't know what to say. She'd never even been this close to another pokemon, well maybe except for one trying to eat her and her parents, much less thanked by one.
After a few minutes, she said shyly, "It was really nothing. My name is Lumina and I'm a dratini. At least that's what I think my parents said I was called. They were dragonair." She felt a wave of sadness wash over her and a lump form in her throat. When she had control over her emotions, she muttered softly, "But that was years ago.... all my fault."
She fell into a gloomy silence. Up ahead light the two pokemon could see a small patch of light growing larger and larger. Now that their destination could be seen Lumina extinguished her light and slowed down until she was swimming beside the pokemon she was leading out.
When they were almost there she hesitated, staying in the shadows.

Gads lingered in the shadows. He could feel the light filling the giant disks of his eyes. What would this pokemon think of him once she could see him? Would she laugh at him too? Would she shun his strange hodge-podge of features? "I'm sure it wasn't your fault. Stuff eats stuff... sort of the way of life. "
He looked at her in the light dappling the exit of the cavern walls. She was beautiful and delicate in a way that made him feel even more awkward and unhappy. "My name is Gads... my dad named me. He was a pokemon called a kingdra. I'm supposed to be horsea... but I uh, inherited a lot from my mother. I never met her, but, my dad told me about her once."
The lumpish horsea clutched close to the shadows. Only his saucer wide eyes picked up enough light to be seen clearly.

She smiled at his kindness but said, "You don't understand... Anyone I'm with is in danger, at least outside these cave walls. My strange silver scales can reflect light up to a mile unless I stay low to the ground. I don't dare to go outside during daytime or even on some moonlit nights. You're the only pokemon I've even talked to since..... my parents passed away. I've spent a little more than half my life alone hiding from the light."
She turned away fighting back tears. About five years ago I disobeyed my parents and went out alone to play during a sunny summer day. A large group of gyrados saw me shining from a distance and investigated. They attacked and.... my parents died saving me." She broke down and couldn't say anymore.

"Your parents must have really cared for you. I'm sorry you lost them." Gads reached out tentatively with the curl of his tail, dreading the light that would cast and reveal his blotchy mottled scales. "I don't go out in the day either. Pokemon either make fun of how I look or just try to eat me. I don't usually get a chance to be thankful to another pokemon."
He felt bad for her. He'd only known his one parent briefly, and the other, as far as he could tell, was indifferent to his or any of her other children's existence.

"In any case," Lumina said, her back still turned to Gads, "it's too dangerous for either of us to be here any longer. If I know anything about octillery, they don't give up easily, especially since by now it's probably figured out that there are no dragonair nearby. It'll probably be more cautious now, so I may not be able to stop it with thunder wave. We should probably go our separate ways here.
She swam closer to the exit. "Gads, I don't want what happened to my parents to happen to you so I'll leave first. At least if there're any nearby predators I can lead them away," she said as she swam quickly into the open.

"I, uh, I... okay." Gads drooped, "If you think it's best, I can't really argue." He looked down at his empty tail, then rocked forward after the dratini, "Or, uh, I could go with you? Then you wouldn't be lonely?"
He let himself hope for just a glimmer of a moment that she'd say yes. He was quite frightened of the prospect of being alone again out in the ocean now that he'd had a little taste of friendly interaction with other pokemon. His species was by nature, a schooling one.
He drifted and worried a little about his chances. Shyly, he moved out where she would be able to see him. The light made him want to flinch, but of course, this was an expression he was unable to perform. "I'd understand if you'd not want me around. I -am- rather slow, and ugly."

At the sound of his voice, Lumina stopped abruptly, confused. She had expected him to agree that she was a danger to him. She winced when she noticed that all the nearby fish were staring at her and her sparkling scales and hoped that a predator wasn't somewhere among them. She moved down to the ocean floor where, maybe, she wasn't as conspicuous among the rocks and vegetation but could still be seen by Gads.
After pondering Gad's words, she turned towards the cave and saw him clearly for the first time. Truthfully, if she hadn't met him before she saw him, she might of been a little afraid of him, as youths often are of strangers. Already warming up to him, she only cocked her head in curiousity and tried to imagine what his parents were like.
Unable to conjure up an image (she didn't even really know what a horsea or kingdra was), she smiled at him and said the words she'd wanted to say the whole time, "I would love the company and to help you find your missing friend, as long as you don't mind me along. I can't promise you a safe and uneventful journey."
She glared at the fish that had followed her to her hiding place.

Gads picked his way clumsily through the plant growth to wards the dratini. He followed the glint of her scales as easily as he followed the small glowing creatures that served as his food. His young heart braved against all the conditioned fear he had of swimming out in the light of day.
"Thank you so much!" Gads breathed a sigh of relief, "Hanging out with you can't be any more dangerous than hanging out in that cave, right?" Gads actually felt better that he was allowed to be near such a large pokemon. His feebas friend, Crys, had been small enough for him to think of her as a possible meal at first. A big friend was just what his confidence needed.
"And thank you for wanting to help me find my friend." Gads smiled at the corner of his long lips, "I don't know if we'll ever find her, though. That thing in the cave might have gotten her." His smile drooped at the realization he might never see his first friend again. "But, you could be my friend too, right?"
Gads felt a little foolish for saying the last part, but she'd let him travel with her. Maybe she'd like to be his friend too?

Swimming outside during the daytime, made Lumina feel more nervous than ever, but for Gads she tried to be as brave as she could. It didn't help that dratini are naturally shy and timid creatures without having to grow up as a misfit.
"Gads, I already consider you a friend," she said happily. After that was straightened out, she concentrated on the situation at hand.
Furrowing her brow with concentration, she said"I didn't smell any blood in the cave, but I'm afraid to say that I didn't smell the octillery until you were attacked. It must've got in when I was out foraging last night, and I guess I was too tired when I came back in to notice it." She shuddered when she thought about how close she came to becoming a meal herself.
Yawning broadly, she added, "In fact I'm still pretty tired. No time to think about that now though. I'm almost convinced that Crys is still alive. We need to think positive, after all she is your friend. Right?"

Gads decided not to voice the awful thought that rung in the back of his mind. Crys might have been eaten whole.
"Yeah, she might be. She's gotta be." Gads swung his body forward, reaching with his tail, then pushing with his fins. "I'm happy you want to be my friend. " he sided up to her and giggled a little, "You know, it's kind of funny. You and I were living on opposite ends of the cavern and we never knew it!" He noticed her yawn, and decided she's know best when to rest.

Lumina laughed along with Gads and remembered something she forgot to ask. "What does Crys look like? Did you know her long?"
As they swam along, she noticed something shiny up ahead and wondered what it could be. She slowed downed, trying to figure out if it was dangerous.

"She was smaller than me, kind of this color." He pointed to a blotch of scales that he felt matched her body's color the best, "And has big eyes and was really nice."
Gads rocked back and forward, " I only knew her for a little bit. We were chased by a pretty determined sharpedo deeper into the cavern. It's why we were lost in there in the first place. That thing was way scary!"

"I can imagine. I've seen a couple of those toothed horrors myself." She quickly changed the subject. "I wonder where she could be. I was sleeping so soundly in the cavern she could've gotten past me without us even seeing each other."
"What do you think that is?" she asked him, pointing her tail at the shiny object some distance away.

Gads stared off into the distance at the shiny thing in the water. "If it were close and looked that small, I'd say it was food!" The horsea did his best to get as good a look as possible. "Can't say I know. You'll have to forgive me... I'm barely over six full moons old. Most of my life has been spent in that cavern's other exit or nearby, so I might make mistakes."
He tilted his body both ways and tried to work out if he'd ever in his life seen something like the shiny object in the distance. "Maybe, one of those... jelly things... um, tenti-something."
|
|
|
Post by namora on Sept 9, 2008 18:36:18 GMT -5
"Tentacool or tentacruel? I hope not.... they're poisonous." She concentrated on the shiny spot. "If that thing moves, I'm outta here," she said with grim humor.
"I'm about nine year old which is young for a dragon. I'd still be considered a child by other dratini and dragonair. You think we should avoid that thing or investigate?"
|
|
|
Post by silvergreenfurret on Sept 9, 2008 20:33:19 GMT -5
Gads could not fathom '9 years' "Woah... you've like, been around forever!" His eyes moved from the dratini back over to the shiny object beyond them. "We could get a little closer, and try to figure it out, but not too close, just in case it's something bad." He gave a middle ground solution. "I hope it's something we can eat, though. I'm starving!"

Lumina laughed at his reaction. It seemed that to Gads she should be some old, wrinkle pokemon who should be at home with little grandchildren swimming around her. "In my family, you'd still be called a hatchling," she teased.
"I have to live a long time if I want to go through two evolutions. My parents used to tell me how, very rarely, dragonair have evolved into dragonite and became true flying pokemon. I hoped I do someday," she sighed, wistfully.
"If you want to check that thing out, I'm fine with it. Whatever it is at least we'll face it together." She swam closer to Gads and gave him her bravest look.

"Flying? Is that like swimming?" Gads didn't mind being called a hatchling. He knew he was young and he knew he had a long way to go before he could really be grown. " I think I've got a couple of evolutions to go too. My dad was huge... and he told us fry when we were still in his pouch, we'd all at least have a chance to evolve once is we were like our mother and twice if we took after him."
Gads followed along after the dratini, weaving himself forward through the green growth on the shallow ocean's floor. "Hope it's food, hope it's food" he hummed along the way.
