[Aeroth]

This may not be Warriors stuff, but thought I'd put up what I could do.
**DISCLAIMER**
I cannot draw free-hand, I can only draw well when I am looking at a picture, so the following images are what I've done while looking at something. I do NOT trace. I will put up my art according to category, so these are not sequential.


My first drawing in like...evah. My friend got me a drawing pad for my birthday expecting I'd never use it. I proved her wrong with this. Sasuke, from the Naruto series. This is what inspired me to continue because it was better than I expected.


My second drawing, also of Sasuke. Proud of this (As with all the ones I will show you). Me being bold and actually using the whole page.


The Nine-Tailed Fox, again, from Naruto. Rather annoying. The pose is pretty bad, but that was not my fault, it was the image I got it from.


My third drawing, I messed up at first and was disheartened. Redid it recently and I like it a lot. Naruto in his Fox form, from the Naruto series.


Shadow the Hedgehog. I didn't want to color him, he looked better with just shading, but people kept getting him confused for Sonic...pah.


Random elf I found. Never truly finished this, haven't decided whether to color or shade, but I lost the picture...


Now starts my Wolf's Rain series. This is Kiba, the main character in human form. His hair is actually fully black, but shading a black substance...wasn't desirable.


Kiba in wolf form from Wolf's Rain. Did this really quickly, about an hour. Messed up the coloring of the mouth, but managed to salvage it by erasing.


Toboe from Wolf's Rain in wolf form. Technically I'm not finished with this one either, need to shade/color, but haven't decided which would look better. But I like it the way it is now though.


Toboe as both a wolf and human. Not too wild about how the wolf came out, but the clothes on the human version makes me happy, mainly because the image was tiny!


Random person that looks like a Final Fantasy character. Longest time I took on an article of clothing.


My poor attempt at trying to copy the cover of the first Warriors book.


One of my most detailed. Random barmaid.


This one could've been my best, but I accidentally made her too big and cut off her head. You have to look at it sideways. It was a cat anthro in a kimono.


My cutest drawing, from The Cat Returns. Really good movie.


An angel. Difficult to draw, probably the longest, too.


To get this you must understand I love Digimon, and my favorite Digimon was Renamon. Sadly I found all Renamon were female until I found this. This is a male version of Renamon. It's not shaded because the drawing wasn't shaded.


I consider this my best. Random demon that I never thought I could draw. Messed up a lot on this, luckily I used light pencils before darkening it. I actually cut off the head a bit, but it came out all right.


A scene with my favorite character from my favorite movie: Princess Mononoke. It is the wolf Goddess Moro, with her adopted daughter San see the hero, Ashitaka, for the first time.

Thanks. I really wish I could draw freehand (Without looking at a picture.) There are several mistakes in each drawing, but unless you know the picture, or have a really scrutinizing personality or a good eye, nobody would notice.

Yeah. I just stick to chibis. >.< I think they're harder to screw up than a normal anime person. And I do that frequently.

Nope, I can't even do that...sadly. I actually find Chibis hard to draw, I make them too puffy, too small, too tall, too evil looking, to stupid...I can't get anything right with Chibis.

Lol. I've started drawing them now without legs. I think it's a little easier, atleast, to do.

Great job!!! Yay Narutards! The world needs more of them.
Anywho, I can't draw worth a flip so I just admire other's work.

I love Naruto, but I don't draw them because I like the anime/manga, I draw Naruto because it's a challenge, or it looks cool. I haven't actually drawn anything for a while, but if anybody has a picture they want me to attempt, PM me or post it here.

These are rather extraordinary forms of your talent, I dare say. From what I can decipher, you're looking at images and drawing what you see, correct? You have that down real well though! Great job! Your forms of shading are on point and it seems you understand the general structures of what you're drawing. Personally, I was an artist this way too until I began breaking off and doing work I wanted to do. This gets your muse going though and reinforces the concept you can do artwork, so I appreciate your efforts.

I have to formally thank you. these were an inspiration to me. Each one, despite their miniscule mistakes helped me become a better drawer. If you would like them to be easier to see, I know how to do some photo editing work that really helps scans, pictures, and other things be a lot easier to see.

Sephalesh, I'm not exactly sure how I helped, but I'm glad. The world needs more artists, those who draw for the sake of drawing. The world needs more artists period, any style, any form. Also, I'm not exactly sure what you're suggesting. If you have a way to improve the quality of some, please, that would be a great help.

Also, I'm not exactly sure what you're suggesting. If you have a way to improve the quality of some, please, that would be a great help.

Glad to have been of service then with my critiques. If you ever want to ask for direction with your own works when you're comfortable drawing in a style you've created/adopted, feel free to let me know. When I get a chance, I would like to get back into graphite and share my works with you so, as artists, we can lean upon each other for support. That is if you're cozy with the concept -- most times artists like to be on their own and follow their own instruction; which is just as good.

Oh, and I believe what Sephalesh meant was that he can take your drawings as they are, and with a program like GIMP or Photoshop shrink them down so they don't take up so much space. It would help with the issue of the thread being such a mighty scrolling project for users when they try to see it, but it would be detrimental to showing the detail of the works -- for that, you can provide a link to the artwork the way it is so if people want a better view, they can see it for themselves.

I forgot to ask, do you have a SheezyArt or DeviantArt page with more work?

I'm not sure how good a critique-er I'd be, but I'ld love to see your art and do what I can to help. If you can give suggestions on how to get away from relying on pictures, I'd love to hear it. No, I don't have DeviantArt or anything like that. I only have a Photobucket, DracoSapien...All of the ones you see here and what I've drawn.

Well, the pictures given already have a link...if you click on them you get the full-sized version, so making them smaller wouldn't hurt. Just wish I had a better scanner.

Critiquing is nothing more than pointing out simple mistakes that the artist may not see and listening to if that flaw was pre-calculated or an actual mistake. Critiques are meant to be straightforward, well delivered, and offer some kind of improvement for the artist. (: I know this because I used to do it for artists on DeviantArt as a past-time hobby with an organization there.

Don't worry, even if you can't critique work very well, doesn't mean you couldn't/didn't try.

As for advice on how to slip away from relying on pictures, I recommend looking through your work and finding a common theme you really enjoy. For me, it started with animals; one day I was drawing from pictures I saw, and then I shifted to utilizing how-to-draw books and discovering my own muse's voice. After much practice, it was just periods of trial and error. I have over six sketchbooks (and counting) of work that got better and better with each year. Suddenly, my theme shifted from animals, to anime, then to anthropomorphic creatures, and soon I hope to draw humans rather well on my own.

Even now as I try doodling and sketching with this post, I find I'm horribly rusty. Drawing pokemon as simply pokemon may not be as simple as it may be for you. In my case, it has to have human qualities -- have arms and legs.. Walk upright. It'll take some work. Another major flaw of mine is color -- though I have pastels and PrismaColor pencils, I'm afraid to taint my work with color. This, again, will be something else to overcome I suppose. As an independent artist, it's all about finding your boundaries and breaking through them; challenging yourself and improving.

My opinion? Keep doing what you're doing; I can tell you're not tracing from subtle details that tracing wouldn't allow. This form of art is challenging to you, but I see chances for you to exceed beyond your expectations. Check out some drawing books and look up tutorials online to see how they get from point A to the final product of point Z. As for the scanner issue, scanners are the artist's enemy. I've seen gorgeous, flawless works get eaten up by scanning because no scanner is 100% perfect, unfortunately. It's all about how you work around it -- some programs can help with the issue with minor tweaking through their functions.

Thank you, both of you. I'll be going on a cruise and I'll see what I can do in my spare time there. Until then, I'll be a little busy with many different things, but I shall persevere!

Oh, I forgot to mention, I also have a new series I'm planning to complete soon, about anthro pirates. I talked to the person who drew the originals and she said I can use them to draw. Will see if I can put them up here soon.
