"Doubtfully so," replied Sombra, "Why would they look for me all the way up here when the Horde is running amok down there?"

"Because you defied them," said Luzia. "I've seen captains beat a pokemon to death who disobeyed them even while a battle raged around them. There's something about defiance that does that."

"I just hope my children will live on," replied Sombra.

"They'll live on. I can feel them in me, I think, now...I'll do my best for them. I just hope that my best is good enough. What if they turn out not to like me,...to want to abuse their own mother...like some of the Horde babies do?"

"Of course not," replied Sombra, "Our children will not be corrupted by the Horde."
OOC: Should we skip a few weeks to when she's giving birth?

ooc: Yup, she can give birth now, since it's Friday! ^_^
ic: Luzia had retired to the rear of the den in the tree roots, where she had lined the floor with grass, leaves and fur. It made a soft place for her to have her kits. She knew the time was near now. Her milk had come in and her belly was huge. She was excited, but scared.

"You look about ready to deliver," said Sombra.

Luzia nodded. "I am. I...know it's very close...because I felt a pain before."

"From the looks of things, you'll deliver in under an hour," said Sombra.

"I don't even know how long that is," said Luzia. "Soon...I think soon now." She felt another pain and winced. "I don't think it's time to try pushing them out yet..."

"Don't worry. It'll hurt, but it'll be over soon," replied Sombra.

Luzia felt another contraction and growled. Tears appeared in the corners of her eyes. "It hurts..."

"You must be ready to give birth," replied Sombra, "It's OK. Just relax your limbs and push."

Luzia tried to relax but it was hard, with a fiery pain exploding inside her depths every few seconds. She began to push, letting out an agonised moan.
An eevee newborn slipped from her body as she pushed with all her might. She lay there, panting for breath, afterwards.

"It's OK, just keep pushing," said Sombra.

Luzia soon felt labour coming on again and in pain she brought forth another eevee. This one had black eartips, she noticed as she cleaned him along with his older brother.

The brand-new Eevee pup lay on the ground, surprisingly small, even for a baby, too small compared to its littermates. It didn't move, not at first. It didn't move for a long time, its eyes closed, it looked like it was dead. It hardly had any fur, covered in his mother's slime, black eartips and a black tailtip was the only thing that distinguished it from the others.
The pup suddenly gave a jolt, and started squirming and mewling pathetically, looking frantically for its mother's milk to ease his insatiable hunger. With its eyes closed, it could only go by instinct and feel, but even so it wasn't making good progress, making its path perpendicular to where his mother's teats lay.

It was now that Sombra began to observe his firstborn. The baby eevee lay curled up. So majestic, so beautiful. So warming, so comforting. He reminded Sombra of fire. "Flare," he said, "His name will be Flare."

"Flare...yes. That's a great name," said Luzia, who was a mixture of exhausted, in labour, and fearful. "Why is this one so small? That--that worries me." she didn't have much time to worry though as she soon gave birth to a third eevee. This one looked completely normal.

The third eevee appeared very fidgety. His head turned in different directions. He was so energetic. "Volt," said Sombra, "His name will be Volt."

Luzia was too busy now giving birth to the fourth eevee, another normal looking one. Four kits...was that all? She realised she didn't hope for more, but neither did she hope that was it. She would love them no matter how many there were.
"Aqua," she said to the last one she had just given birth to. "This one's name will be Aqua." she still didn't know what to call the one with the black eartips--he was an unusual one. But a name would come to her, she was sure.

The odd-looking eevee didn't bring any names to Sombra's mind. He thought, "Aeroth. How about Aeroth?"

"Yes...I like that," said Luzia. "Aeroth it is." It sounded unusual and lofty, exotic. Yes. "You're good with names."
She was just beginning to think that her labour was over when it started up all over again. Gasping, she pushed forth a fifth, tawny-coloured kit.

Luzia cried, with the last of her strength, "no! I will clean them myself. The cold of the stream will chill them."

The newly dubbed 'Aeroth' gave an uninteligable squeal, finally finding his mother's food-giving source and latching onto it like a drowning Pokemon to a raft, squeezing tightly as a rush of milk gushed down the babe's throat, some of it overflowing and spilling down his chin onto the ground. He didn't reaize anything, eyes still closed, only a basic animal instinct and a great hunger drove him to eat until he could eat no more. Aeroth then detached himself from the teat and started moving, attempting to get his legs under him and failing pathetically, yet it was very cute to watch.

The sun began to set for the day. The air grew cooler. Sombra knew the newborn eevee needed warmth. He bit onto the loose skin of each individual eevee and put them together in the center of the ditch.
The newborns curled up and slept, comforted by the warmth of each other.

"Rappella," said Luzia, of her lastborn eevee child, a daughter. "The little tawny one will be called Rappella."
Rappella snuggled in with her four siblings, beginning to cry with hunger. She was hungry!
Luzia lay around her little eevee babes and let them suckle.
