Arendia's Edge, A Corner of the Universe
During the initial years of America’s founding, an English lord by the name of Sir Andrew Turner came to America seeking new land to buy and new businesses to erect. It was in the western part of the young nation where he founded Arendia Manor. His wealth and opulent nature fueled the beginning of a small town around his estate’s perimeters—the Gold Rush was also a large reason for this sudden influx of people. The businesses and homes that cropped up here allowed the small manor estate to grow into a small but thriving town. As years passed, this little village remained untouched by the American-Indian and Civil Wars.
Today, the thriving village has changed into a modern-day city, whose name has been handed down to it from the original estate. Amid shopping malls, high-end restaurants, and educational institutions, this urban center harbors a society comprised of people from many levels of the spectrum. Offering promise of success, amateur and experienced entrepreneur alike steadily expanded the territory of Arendia with various investments that continue to raise the price value of the budding area.
Among Arendia’s best additions, the school system seems to be the most prominent. Built alongside one another with a distance of 20 miles or so between, Arendia Elementary, Middle, and High are placed in areas more suitable for their age groups while the University is balanced on the separating line between Arendia and Los Angeles. Once a center for private schooling, the city finally publicized education and moved their remaining private members to a smaller building on another edge of the city so that only a few choice students obtain such schooling. Boasting a star basketball, soccer, and tennis team, the schools recently acquired permission from the city to let their culture clubs and other committees to attend social decoration and community awareness projects.
In the summer months, Arendia is stretched to the brink with tourists that flood the coast during vacation. During this time, law enforcement is almost tripled in order to keep residents and wayward visitors at bay since numerous bon fire parties tend to lead to trouble. Most natives remain neutral in their view of the new public, but it isn’t too hard to find someone complaining about the new load of people wandering past the welcome sign.
Lately, there has been a surge of wealthy newcomers who build their summer homes and then abandon them in the winter months. Arriving just before June and leaving at the end of August, government officials of Arendia have noticed a sharp spike in sales and production income in this time period. Acting on this, Arendia has been installing summer attractions and theme parks to lure even more visitors in, and the city has been responding well to the new source of consumers. Funding shops, schools, parks, and community projects alike, the wise advertisement of Arendia has recently bought the city a comfortable paycheck that is likely to carry on for many years.
But no matter the popularity of a certain social group, the rich, comfortable, and destitute all co-exist in the bustling city. No matter how much they may complain.
Here at Arendia's Edge, we offer a laid back community for role players to have fun and enjoy themselves -- a simple game complete with freedom for any drama you can imagine within a friendly atmosphere.
