Wandering, looking for a battle

[kratos]

Raine wandered about, looking for someone to have a friendly battle with. "WHere is everyone?" Raine said after searching for hours to no avail.

[Pidgey]

Aryll winged her way accross the desert sky, scanning the sands below her for any signs of life. A tiny brown spot moving against the sands caught her attention, and she circled low to get a better look. When she realized that she was looking at an eevee, she called out a greeting. "Hello down there!"

[kratos]

Raine looked up to see the Tailow above her. "Hey there," she called out. "You mind battling? I'm looking for a little friendly fight."

[Pidgey]

A battle? What an odd request from a total stranger. Aryll circled around and landed neatly in front of the eevee. "I suppose." She replied, never one to turn down a challenge. "My name's Aryll, by the way." There, now they weren't strangers.

[kratos]

Raine smiled. "I.....I'm Raine," she said. "Sorry. When it comes to anything but battling, I'm really shy."

[Pidgey]

If Aryll had lips, she would have smiled back. Instead, she gave a friendly nod. "Nice to meetcha, Raine." She replied. "So, how about that friendly battle?" She added, spreading her wings and preparing to launch into the air. She would let Raine make the opening move.

[kratos]

Raine took a few moments to ascess the situation. Aryll could fly, making any of her ground-bound attacks certain to miss if she used them to start. Shadow Ball would have been good, but since Aryll was a normal type, it would be useless. She knew Aryll would dodge from the way her wings were open. With a smile, she decided to use Swift.

[Pidgey]

Aryll was poised and awaiting Raine's attack. It came in a shower of little stars, all flying straight at her. A swift attack was unavoidable, but Aryll would do her best. Without hesitation, she launched herself into the air, though she was hit by the stars, she was far from spent. This battle had just started. Tucking her wings back, she dove at the eevee in an attempt to tackle her.

Raine tried to roll out of the Tailow's way, though she did still get struck on the side, but she wasn't ready to give up. She turned around and used a Quick Attack, hoping to strike while Aryll was still mid-tackle.

[Pidgey]

Aryll felt her tackle connect, and she quickly circled around for another try. She noted the eevee preparing a Quick Attack, and immediately prepared to counter with a Quick Attack of her own.

[kratos]

Raine did her best to jump out of the way of Aryll's quick attack and use her own Quick attack immediately, hoping she would be able to land the hit.

[Pidgey]

Aryll sailed harmlessly past the eevee, and wheeled about to face her again. Raine was still trying to land her Quick Attack on the Taillow, and she was close. Thinking quickly, Aryll whipped up a defensive Sand Attack, hoping to conceal herself from her attacker in order to avoid being hit.

[kratos]

Raine ran right into the Sand-Attack. Sand got into her eyes and she couldn't see what was happening. She kept her eyes closed, listening for the sound of beating wings.

[Pidgey]

It worked! The sand blast had stalled the eevee's charge. Aryll took this opportunity to gain a bit more altitude and prepare to sue her best move; Aerial Ace. She tucked in her wings and dove toward the target.

((Aerial Ace is also a no miss attack.))

Raine could hear a rushing wind. She knew Aryll was trying an attack of some sort, but she couldn't tell what it was. She braced herself and took the hit, then got back to her feet. "If I only knew Protect," she said, "I could have blocked that." By this point, her natural tears had washed the sand out of her eyes and she could see again.

[Pidgey]

((Okay, just making sure.))

Aryll felt her attack connect, and rose back into the air. Circling around so that she was in front of Raine, Aryll flapped her wings rapidly to hover. "Give up yet?" She teased, with a chuckle to let the eevee know that she was only joking. Aryll hovered there in mid air, waiting on Raine's next action.

"I can't fight someone who can fly like that," Raine said to herself. "The only thing that can hit is Swift and that's not very strong." She sat down. "I do give up," she said. "I can't beat you."

[Pidgey]

Aryll raised her eyebrows in surprise. She hadn't expected the plucky eevee to give in. Then again, it had been a long battle, and Aryll herself did not have much fight left in her. She swooped low and landed neatly beside the eevee. "Whew...that was some fight!" She exclaimed. And she meant it too. In all her travels, she had never been up against a quadruped who could fight like Raine could.

[kratos]

Raine smiled. "Thank you," she said. "I....didn't think I was really very strong. I left my mom not long ago." She lied down to rest. "My mom and dad left me. I was taken in by a Ninetales who lost her baby. It didn't live past birth. I want to be strong to make Mom proud."

[Pidgey]

Ruffling her feathers to relax herself, Aryll listened quietly to what Raine was saying. She was silent for a few moments, then came a reply. "My....how dreadful!" She said, a note of sympathy in her voice. She could relate to how Raine was feeling, Aryll herself had lost her family; they had been separated during a windstorm. "But, I'm sure you'll do your mum proud." She said, trying to be encouraging.

Raine smiled. The young Tailow's words made her heart feel very light. "Thanks," she said. "I think we might become good friends someday."

[Pidgey]

Aryll nodded. It would be good, to finally have a friend. "So, what will you do now?" She questioned. As for herself, Aryll planned on seeking out a good place to nest.

[kratos]

"I suppose I'll look for some place to call home," Raine said. "After all, I don't want to live out in the open all the time. Especially if it starts pouring rain."

[Pidgey]

Aryll nodded. "I'm not sure where I'll end up, but I'm not staying here!" She replied. Aryll had decided that she wasn't too fond of the desert, with the sun beating down on her and the hot sand burning her little pink feet.

[kratos]

"If you want to get your feet off the sand for a while," Raine said, "you can perch on my back for a little while."

[Pidgey]

Aryll thought about this offer for a second, and then hopped up onto the eevee's back with a quick flap of her wings. Raine's coat was soft and comfortable, unlike the burning sand. "Thanks a lot!" Aryll chirped. "So, do you wanna go look for a place to live?"

[Starrunner]

A young ponyta looked at the pair, wondering if they would notice her.

[Pidgey]

Aryll noticed a Ponyta, who seemed to be watching she and Raine. "Hello there." Aryll called. No need to be shy.

[Starrunner]

Stood and walked closer.

[Pidgey]

"So...what's you name?" Aryll questioned.
