[kratos]

"Want me to stay out of this?" Raine asked Ace.

[Pidgey]

"Yeah, it's alright Raine." Ace replied, his eyes never leaving the Spearow. "I've got this one."

Spearow narrowed his eyes. "Think you're tough, do ya?" He sneered. Then, without warning, he reached out and took a stab at Ace with his vicious beak.

Ace tried to duck out of the way of the attack, but he wasn't quick enough. The Spearow's sharp beak caught him on the side of the head, opening a deep gash. The dizzying blow knocked Ace clear from his perch, and he fell to earth in a crumpled heap.

Looking down at the Pidgey he had defeated so easily, the Spearow seemed quite pleased with himself. And then, something quite unexpected happened.

The bloodied pile of feathers were glowing a bright white; Ace was evolving! Spearow's beak fell open in shock as the Pidgey changed into a Pidgeotto before his very eyes. As Ace rose into the air with powerful new wings, Spearow realized that now, he was in big trouble.

[kratos]

"Wow," Raine said, her mouth dropping open in amazement.

[Pidgey]

In a few beats of his powerful wings, the Pidgeotto was upon the Spearow. Ace struck the smaller bird with his taloned feet, sending Spearow spiraling toward the ground. Spearow fluttered weakly, struggling to remain airborne, but a blast of Whirlwind from Ace's strong wings sent him crashing into the ground.

Ace circled his defeated foe before coming to land in front of him, glaring down at him through fierce, predatory eyes. Spearow swallowed hard and trembled, desprate to save his life. "Pl..please, Sir. Lemme go, I'll never do it again!" He pleaded.

Ace glared at him for a few long moments, before deciding that he would let this cowardly bird have his miserable life. With a flap of his wings, he rose again and reclaimed his perch in the berry tree, leaving Spearow his chance to flee.

[kratos]

"That was something," Raine said.

[Pidgey]

Seeing his chance, Spearow collected himself and weakly fluttered away. 'You'll pay for this someday, Pidgeotto...' He muttered to himself.

The Pidgeotto flexed his powerful wings. The feeling was almost surreal; Ace felt power he had never felt before flowing through him. He felt as if he could take anything on, and win.

[kratos]

"Congratulations," Raine said. "If I wasn't a quadraped, I'd clap for you."

[Pidgey]

"Thank you, Miss." Ace replied. The evolution had changed more than just his body, but his personality as well. Already, the weakness and fear he had felt as a Pidgey had faded away, replaced by confidence and boldness. 'If this is how being a Pidgeotto feels...Pidgeot must feel even better.' He said to himself. Long had he desired to be a Pidgeot, like his father. Now, he was one step closer.

Raine smiled. She always loved seeing people happy.

[Mei]

"Hi!" Ruby called, waving enthusiastically to the Pichu. "Who're you?" She beamed at the three Pokemon sitting near her. Wow... I've met a lot of new people today...
