Life in the Mixed Flock

" I like the idea of justice," said Carni. " Bringing justice to all who have tormented me!"

Furiko looked at the group, but he didn't move or even try to draw attention to himself, in a way, he didn't even want to be brought to attention.

"Basically everyone except us. >_>;" said Rallin. "But it's an idea. Lemme go talk to my da--." He cut off seeing Cottonflash was approached the odd rhyhorn. "Oh well. I'll try later."

Cottonflash saw Furiko. He hadn't seen the oddly colored rhyhorn. Probably wanted to join the herd. The gundah stood up and approached Furiko. "Phos's light, stranger. Where are you from?" he asked kindly.

" True..." said Carni. It was true that the gundah had never kicked him out, he had ruled that Carni could stay and that was that.

Rallin wondered what Cottonflash could do. He knew that at least his mom would never change her mind. She was like that. Once her mind was set it was unmoveable. But maybe all ewes weren't like that?

[Master Chief]

Furiko looked up, "I'm from a distance away...." he said without telling where, he morned for his herd, and saying the name of the place would only bring tears to him, for his herd loved to call themselves ~The herd of.....~ he thought but held back from thinking of the name.

[Pax]

Duke nodded at Rallin's words, then glanced back to the rusty Rhyhorn being approached by the gundah. "Do any of you know who that is?" he asked the others. Then, he got an idea. "Hey, if he's new, he hasn't heard any of the mothers' rumors about you, Carni! We could try to befriend him and get him on our side." he grinned.

Cottonflash noded. "Are you wishing to join my flock? As you can see, we are a mixed bunch. I welcome anyone under the condition that they will do what is best for the flock and not kill us from within as some Pokemon look to do for the pleasure of a group known as the Horde." The ram said this basic speech to any Pokemon wishing to join.

"That's a good idea, Duke," said Lilly, grinning at him. Secretly, she had a crush on the rhyhorn and hoped when she was old enought to carry a child that he would be the one who had her. But that was far in the future and rihgt now Carni was the focus.

"Yeah," said Rallin, with a nod. "Dah's probably welcoming him now."

[Master Chief]

Furiko cringed at the mention of the horde and their doings. "I-I wish... t-to join-n...." he said with a deep waiver in his voice. The memories were starting to come back and the memories hurt him because he wasn't able to do anything about the horde attacking his herd.

Cottonflash vaguely wondered why the sudden wavier in the rhyhorn's voice was for, but he put that aside. He'd keep an eye on him for a while until he knew that he was safe. "Very well then. I'm the gundah, Cottonflash. What's your nam?"

[Pax]

Duke squinted his eyes to better see the newcomer's expression. He looked more disgruntled than a threat. Inwardly, the small Rhyhorn wondered what the gundah's speech had done to the new guy, but Duke also hoped the rusty Rhyhorn wouldn't prove to act like other, older Rhyhorns that pushed Duke around. Then Duke looked at each of his friends. "When gundah's done, let's go over and give him a good welcome." Better a friend than an enemy, he told himself.

"Yeah," said Lilly with a nod. "Sounds like a plan."

[Master Chief]

"My... name is Furiko....." he said trying to remove the waiver in his voice as best he could.

[fya]

"It's good to meet you in the light, Furiko," said Cottonflash. With that, he stepped away. He'd watch the rhyhorn and see what he did. He'd have to for a while to make sure he wasn't a threat to the mixed flock.

Seeing that the gundah had stepped away, Rallin looked at Duke. "Shall we?"

[Pax]

"Yeah. Let's go. Carni, you're coming too, whether you like it or not, mkay?" With that, Duke beelined for the newcomer, (with the grace of an avalanche), and halted in front of him. "HELLO." he said boldly, trying to seem bigger than he was. The rusty Rhyhorn was much bigger than him. "I'd like to welcome to you the flock. I'm Duke, and this is Rallin, Lilly, and Carni. What should we call you?"

[Master Chief]

Furiko looked at Duke startled O.O . "Umm.... I'm Furiko.... hello...." he felt akward with the way of Duke's approach.

"Hi," said Rallin, waving his tail. The mareep smiled and a few 'happy' sparks jumped from his coarse fleece. He hoped the rhyhorn would be nice.

"Welcome to the flock," said Lilly. The miltank calf smiled pleasantly up at Furiko.

Carni's mother came forward. " Carni is my only lamb, he's my first lamb." The ampharos ewe looked young and innocent herself although she was pretty tall. " And I've been at my wit's end on how to get the flock to accept him."

Carni hung his head, he hated being trouble to everyone.

[Pax]

Duke returned the odd stare with a sarcastic one to mimic. o'_O "Welcome Furiko! Just to let you know, Carni's a great guy and you shouldn't listen to anything negative about him by others, all right? Hm, what else.." he couldn't think of anything off the bat, so he shrugged. "So yeah, that's about it. Any questions?" he said straightforwardly.

[Master Chief]

"Uh...." Furiko managed to say through the much surprise of how everyone was greeting him. He hadn't expected it, although he hadn't been with any others for a long time.

" Can...can I be in this little flock too?" said Carni, looking at Lilly and Duke and them. They seemed so accepting, and they were all different, so he would feel right at home.

[fya]

"That's a cool name," said Lilly. "Mine's boring....Lilly.." She made a face. She hated her name. The miltank calf stretched and smiled.

"I don't know how to make them," said Cottonflash to Carni's mother. "I have asked them to at least not be cruel to him. But they are. By ignoring him. I can see it. I have no problem with his odd coloring; my natal flock was a very odd one. All sheep, but we were 'weird' sheep. This flock...it's just so used to the average yellow ampharos. I'm sorry. I think about Carni a lot and am trying to figure something out to help him."

[Pax]

"Of course, Carni! Our own little flock of strange... mixed stuff. Nyah," the Rhyhorn huffed happily. "Anyone and everyone is allowed to join, so spread the word to other kids when you get the chance, everyone. Furiko, do you have a shelter to stay in during storms?" he asked.

[fya]

"Course you can," said Lilly, smiling.

[Master Chief]

"I... just... no." Furiko admitted to the others, he couldn't help it, they were just too nice.

[fya]

Rallin giglgled. Poor Furiko, he must have been shy. "I'll go talk to the other kids," said Rallin. He trotted over to the other mareep, ponytah, tauros, and miltank children. He quickly explained to them. at the moment, though, none seemed interesting. Annoyed, he came back. "So far no luck Captin!" They could make this into a game...

" It's going to take a lot of hard work to overcome the flock's feelings about him," said Carni's mother to Cottonflash.

" Thank you for letting me join," said Carni. " You're all very honest and...good."

[Pax]

"No problem, Carni," Duke grinned kindly. "And good try, Rallin. It seems it'll take more to influence the others. But! That's just the fun of it, arr," the Rhyhorn laughed heartfully. "As for you Furiko, you'd better stay with my parents and I for now. Storms come by all the time." he said. This was so cool, to start out a new idea and spread its wings. Duke was excited to help the others out.

"Well maybe if we all act like we're having a really, really, really good time then they'll want to come over," suggested Lilly. "I mean we are having fun..right? But if we pretend were like ontop of the world because we're so happy...I dunno.."

Cottonflash nodded. "Small steps. At least some of the kids want to be friends."

[Master Chief]

"T-thank you Duke...." Furiko said trying to smile, but only giving half of one. He sat and looked at them, ~They're all so nice....~ he thought to himself.
