" I'm, I'm tired," said Lala, slowing down as she touched ground again. Maybe flying wasn't hard work but geting up there sure was.

"Learning is tiring," reamarked Caloura. She remembered when she had first been learning to take off..it'd taken ages. Luckily her friends had been there to help here as well as her mother and the other tropious cows.

" That was wonderful," said Nakeela, coming over to Lala. " Have a fruit." She picked one of the fruits off her neck for her daughter to eat. It was the most nutritious thing for a baby tropius.
Lala ate the fruit. " Thanks Mommy."

Caloura watched and waited for the game to start up again.

" I'm too tired to play now," said Lala. " Let's play something else. "
" I've been thinking of going off to find Auntie Morganya and Kikko," said Nadillia. " I'm just not sure if I'd be allowed to go now."

Caloura listened to the others talk. She still felt like an outsider--she didn't know who they were talking about even though they'd said it was a male calf. She looked back over at her mother. Shyis was grazing and watching her.

Lala glanced at Caloura, then back at Nadillia. " I don't know," she said, honestly.
Rixun had his eye on Nadillia...it was the tropius way that no female could leave the herd without the Herdfather's permission. And Nadillia was just old enough to be a herd female, not a calf anymore.

Caloura began to graze, not knowing what to say or do.

Nadillia's mother was worried. The tropius cow would give birth soon, and she feared that this new Herdfather would kill the poor thing. She grazed too, very worried.

Shyis saw the worry in the other cow's eyes. She could see the other cow was preganant. She'd experianced that feeling before. Now a fun one. "Afraid of him for your children's sake?" she asked, moving over towards the tropius/

" Yes," said the tropius, who was middle aged. " I'm afraid." But she dared not speak unfavourably of the Herdfather right now, for his words and actions were law. That was just how it was.

Shyis felt immediatly glad that her calf was alrady alive and had been alive for some time now. "Goodluck," she said as she grazed.

" Thank you," said the tropius, who was the next to oldest in the herd.

"No problem," said Shyis with a smile to the older cow.

Rixun grazed alongside the herd, keeping an eye over all his cows and their young, as well as watching out for any approaching danger. He was their protector and he would do his job well.

(i need to put bronze somewhere, can i stick him here for a while?)
In a nearby tree, Bronze the starly is waken by a racket. Bronze flapps his bronze wings then follows the noice. He notices the tropuis calf trying too fly, so he just sitts back in a tree watching.
