An average spring day out on the savannah, clear skies, little breeze and the long grass just barely swaying.
Shadowdancer’s not exactly doing the average thing though. She’s off further from the herd than she should be and she’s chasing something in the long grass. Black crystal-hard hooves thundering against the hard packed ground as she pursues. There’s a couple of cries from back behind her where the other yearling fillies and colts are still playing their game of tag at seeing her run off on her own. But the black and blue ponyta is having none of it. No, there’s a strange critter to chase and here she’s going after it! “Come back! Come back little critter! I wont hurt you!” she squeals after the ever running creature, hooves continuing to thunder through the grass, not realizing her voice and noisy movements are what the thing is running from.
Surprisingly she manages to keep up with the critter for a good ten minutes even with all it’s efforts to lose her with it’s ducking and darting through the long grass. It’s only when it finally finds a hole to shoot down that the ponyta is forced to give up her pursuit. Though she does paw at the entrance for a few more minutes, nickering and snorting, trying to tempt the creature to come out and talk again. The rattata’s having none of it and he’s keeping his pale hide deep within the burrow until the yearling’s gone off elsewhere.
Finding her new found ‘companion’ not of the agreeable sort Shadowdancer finally gives up on trying to convince it to come out and looks around to see.. She’s much much further from the herd than she’d intended to go. She can’t even see the blaze from Sunblight, the stallion of her heard at this distance. Crap.
An ear flickering and short flame tail twitching behind her Shadowdancer looks around trying to get her baring again. She’s not even totally sure which way she’s come from now, having been lead a merry dance all over the place by the critter she’d been chasing. And with the sun being at it’s pinnacle she can’t even use that to tell her where to go. Oh crap oh crap.
((OOC: I'll just keep posting myself if no one feels like joining, though I welcome anyone who wants to join! Preferably ponyta/rapidash and sticking to a horsie way of things.))

ooc: Well we can't leave ya posting alone! ^^ I'll have someone from the herd notice she's gone. A friend or something. And you named it Sunblaze's herd. Is she your character or what? (I haven't checked the char apps for a while, I leave that to Wynn usually.
ic: Corinth glared a the group of ponytah colts making fun of the tiny colt, Lucilun. Poor Lucilun was half the size of the other ponytahs and the same age. It just put her off the way the other colts made fun of Lucilun. That was why she was Lucilun's friend. She shook her head and looked around to see where Shadowdancer was. "Shadowdancer?" she murmered, looking around the herd. No sign of the other filly. A smile flicked to her face and the ponytah trotted over to the boys.
"Hey leave him alone!" she yelled, kicking up dirt and bucking in a few of their faces. They made their stupid comments about how they'd meant no harm and bullshit like that. "Get outta here," she snapped, managing to kick one of the biggest, meanest ones in the nose. They had soon backed off. Corinth was nobody to mess with. The filly was strong and didn't care if she busted a couple guys or not. "Come on Lucilun. Shadowdancer's gone..sound like adventure to you?"
Lucilun snorted with pleasure. His blue flames flickered and grew on his black fur. Alone with being miniature, he was oddly colored with black fur and blue flames. His ruby eyes beamed and he finally said, "yeah let's go!" He gave a happy buck and then blushed a bit, though it was immpossible to see on his black face. "Sorry you had to save me again..."
"It's ok, pal," said Corinth, butitng him softly in the chest. "Come on, lets go!" With that she took off at a medium trot so that Lucilun would be able to keep up with her faster gaits.

OOC: Ah yes. Forgot to state that better. Sunblaze is just the random npc Rapidash stallion who's the face of the herd. Couldn really make it Shadowdancer's herd as she's still only a yearling and all ^^;
Sighing to herself Shadowdancer's gone to grazing for the past fifteen minutes.. Mostly as well, perhaps if she lets the sun go down a little she'll be able to figure which direction's which at least and from that perhaps figure out which direction to go. It's really a bummer that she lost her way over the long grass and that after all that chasing the little critter hadn't actually been much interested in doing anything. Ah well.
Then in the distance there's a flicker of movement! A flame dancing along the long grass and her head shoots up to a higher level to see what it is. Someone from Sunblaze's herd?! Ooo.. hopefully!
Tail twitching Shadowdancer finds herself prancing on the spot in anticipation before bucking up the nerve to go after the direction of the fire she can see. It must be! Someone looking for her of course!
So with no ado the young filly goes trotting off towards the newcomer.. Getting closer and closer, her own short mane blaze flagging behind her she approaches the other fire horse who quite quickly comes to be a Rapidash colt of four or five years.. which makes Shadowdancer slow down her step a little. Ah.. that's not right. She hasn't seen him before, where'd he come from? It's too late to run off now, he's obviously spotted her by the way he's tossing his head and sent out a greeting flare. Bother. Hopefully he wont cause trouble.. hopefully.
More than a little skittish the young filly lets the older colt approach her, not being able to help herself but to admire him a little. Well really.. the only male firehorses she's seen are Sunblaze the herd's head and the other colts around her age.. Sunblaze isn't one to let his sons or the sons of mares he's allowed into his herd to stay past their fourth year at most. Threat to his position and all. So this is the first time she's seen another and to be honest Gospa though not the most impressive of specimens for a newly evolved Rapidash isn't the worst of his lot.
"Hey there girlie. What you doin out here all alone?" Gospa says as he eyes over the black filly with some curiosity. A blue flamer. He's seen a few of them down this way of the savannah.. and in all different herds. All under his age, fillies and colts, not a mare or stallion among them. Odd that. You'd think that there'd be some -somewhere-. But he hasn't even seen any in the small bachelor herds that travel about either. Anyway, here's a cute little filly all out on her own.
Shadowdancer's bristling at being called girlie, such a derisive name! And she is not! A snort and ears pinning back, her red eyes narrow on the bigger colt. "I was looking for someone.."
"Uh huh.. sure you were girlie. So where are they then?"
Shadowdancer just wants to bite that smug look off his face. Such an uppity ass! Like really! Her tail switches behind her as she keeps her eyes narrowed on the colt. "They had to leave." And to change the tables around, "What're -you- doing here? This is Sunblaze's territory, you're way inside the boundries and he wont be impressed with that. He'll wallop your ass if he catches you so close to the herd!"
Now that's gotten a response. The big colt dances a little on the spot, his head tossing and turning to look about as if Sunblaze were suddenly to appear. "What? Really? Here? Shit!"
Shadowdancer's ears perk in surprise to that response. Wow.. He got skittish awefully quick.. Are what the mares say true? Is Sunblaze really -that- impressive? You've got to be a little skeptical when told that your father took down an arcanine all on their own to defend a foal. Well.. you don't have to.. But Shadowdancer's the sort to question things like that. This though, the reaction the colt's given from her statement. Maybe he -is- that impressive. Cool.
OOC: Sorry, I blab on a bit ^^; Give something to interrupt in on though. Gospa's another NPC obviously seeing he's a rapidash.. or can you get evolved ones for characters? >>; Anywho, yes. done for this post ^^;

ooc: wow i just realized it was you ^^;;;;;;; i'm so slow, dawn....i was thinking, wow this person writes so much like dawn! and then i was like wait a minute...*checks profile* wow now arent i a good guesser xP oh and I said in my post that the lil coltsy I made (Lucilun) is black with blue flames lol. And yeah Gospa can be an npc.
ic: "Hey," nickered Lucilun, his squealy voice cracking the air in an annoying way. "Is that Shadowdancer?" The small colt looked towards the filly. And there was a rapidash there too. Funny, the stallion looked just like himself! He snorted softly and looked at Corinth for help. He watched as her brown eyes flicked from Shadowdancer to the stallion.
"Yeah its her," replied Corinth. "Hey Shadowdancer!" She wondered if the stallion was Lucilun's father. She knew Lucilun's mother was an ordianary ponytah like herself. She slowed down until she was merely walking towards the two horses. She looked at Shadowdancer with the 'who's he?' expression.

OOC: Haha.. N uh. Shadowdancer's the black ponyta with blueflames, as per say the name. Gospa's just a normal rapidash >>;; Though I was gonna give him an off white muzzle just to make him different. Anywho.
IC: Gospa's got his neck arched a little as he spots two more blaze's.. one your typical red/yellow and another bluey like the little filly already infront of him. Ha.. Someone was busy here as well then weren't they? Not Sunblaze obviously, with all the rumours and things spread about about that particular stallion there'd of been mention of him being a Night Walker, but nope, just a big fancy pants stallion.
Shadowdancer glances back at what the large colt's looking at to see the other youngsters coming up, "Hey! Corinth! Lucilun!" she calls out putting her current companion at odds a little. The black furred filly looks back at him smug, "See, I told you I was with someone!" Sure, these aren't who she'd ment but he doesn't need to know that. Flicking her head and knickering off towards the other two she looks just a little smug. "Gospa here's gonna Challenge Sunblaze for the herd," the filly announces to the other two youngsters quite loudly. The result of which puts Gospa further on edge, neck arched, ears back, tail flagged and whites bared. "I SAID NO SUCH THING!" he gasps breathlessly. A furious shake of his head as he prances on the spot more than a little panicy. He really is lucky they're quite a bit from the herd.
Shadowdancer's just looking smug with herself over the reaction of the big colt as the other two come up, barely holding back her laughs as the Rapidash does a good job of putting himself in a spot of bother. Flames flaring and shrinking and his face taking on an amusing shade of pink.

ooc: ooooo sorry i didn't realize that! woops ^^;;;
ic: Corinth eyed Gospa. The rapidash looked no match for Sunblaze, anyway. Much too young and the way he took off...even a foal like her knew that was no way to reply even to something as outragous as that. She grinned at Shadowdancer. "Well, well." She looked at Gospa. "Someone's gotta temper."

Gospa colours further towards the even younger filly's comment about his temper. "W-well if she hadn't of sa- Argh! What am I saying?! I don't need to explain myself to the likes of you!" Diamond hard hooves stomp the hard packed earth impatiently as he tosses his head.
Shadowdancer just goes about looking more smug as she looks up at the large colt. "So why are you here then mister big stuff?"Seeing as there's now three of the youngsters she's got a bit more confidence to speak her mind, that and the fact that this big rapidash still has all his ponyta skittishness that makes him easy to talk to just like any of the ther fillys or colts back in the herd. He's really not that scarey. All hot air and no fire!
Gospa freezes for an instant at the 'big stuff' comment. Sure.. he is isn't he? Ha. "Uh- well.. uh.. "
Seeing him struggle to answer Shadowdancer interjects, "Sunblaze wont let you stay here if he finds you. Even if you aren't nothin special or a threat, you're still a big boy and he doesn't like them near the herd.." least that's what she's heard, specially seeing as she's never actually seen any other big male firehorses.
Such a comment leaves Gospa more than a little deflated, flames shrinking a moment and ears drooping. He's not that bad is he?

"Yeah, she's right," whickered Corinth. "And he wouldn't let some skittery little colt stay anyway. You prolly lore the preds right to ya!" She snorted and raised an eyebrow at the rapidash stallion. Pretty pathetic. She glanced at Lucilun, wondering what her small friend thought.
Being a more disiplined foal, Lucilun said nothing. He knew it was wrong to poke the stupid stallion. Skitish or not, the big stallion could probably kill them. At least him if not the fillies. His blue flames quivered a bit and he eyed Gospa with worry. But maybe since the stallion was so skitish..maybe he was a clumsy runner too?

Gospa's just feeling worse and worse via these two fillies here right now. And really come on, he ain't that bad.. not really. Also, shouldn't he of left these sorts of dressing downs behind some time ago? With the whole evolution factor and such.. bother.
Shadowdancer's about to say something else more towards the large colt when there's a sound on the wind, ears perk and she snakes her head around to see what it was. More sounds, louder now and there's the distinct cries of a stallion going on there. Hmn.. what's going on?
In the distance can be seen two streaks of gold and red flames. One slightly smaller than the other and being chased across the heaving grasslands of the savannah. As they come closer it becomes more obvious that it's two rapidash and it's the one at the hind that's making most of the noise as he chases the other. It's Sunblaze! And it looks like some upstart stallion who'd tried challenging the older fire horse for his herd. By the blood splashed upon his flanks it would seem he hasn't faired too well over such an encounter.
As they come closer still suddenly the younger stallion turns about face and lowers his head in challenge to the older male. Sunblaze being the rapidash he is is not so foolish as to continue running into the horn, he veers himself away from the weapon of the other male in time to avoid any damage before lashing out with back hooves in a fierce kick. Spinning further as the younger male is forced back he brings his own impressive horn down ready to fence the upstart as he's been challenged.
Screams and flares of fire see the two large males make contact and begin fighting. Sunblaze using his superior height and bulk as well as long gathered knowledge to his advantage against the lighter slightly more nimble male. It's intense and the grass about them both is quickly wilted and fast losing any sign of life.
From their few dozen meters away Shadowdancer is watching with eyes wide in surprise, tension and fear mingling with wonder at such a display. For having seen no big males but for Sunblaze for so long and now to see two in the one day! Wonders of wonders!
Gospa for his lot is struck dumb with well.. he doesn't know what exactly but it's keeping his hooves glued to the spot as he watches the older stallions do their deadly dance together. This is what he's got cut out for him? To challenge a big bloody male like that and hope to win..? AHHH! How's he gonna stand a chance against someone like that for a coupla pretty fillies and maes? His eyes are wide with the fear that's keeping him rooted to the spot when realy, instinct should be telling him to run as fast as his four feet will take him as far as he can possibly get.

"Still think you're hot stuff?" asked Corinth, darkly grinning at Gospa. She could see the fright growing his his eyes. It was plain written on his face that the only way he'd ever start a herd would be being a filthy criminal--stealing from herds like Sunblaze's while the stallion was fighting off others. She flicked her tail and smiled. She wasn't a fan for fighting really, but she loved to see Sunblaze make other younger stallions pay. It had never occured to her that one day another stallion would make him pay and that he'd probably gone through a lot of lost battles for a herd before emerging with this wonderful herd he led today.
A line of fright crossed Lucilun's face. The black colt nervously stepped in his place. However impressive Sunblaze was, he could never get over the fact that it was possible for Sunblaze to loose the fight. From general chatter, he'd heard that some herds forced colts to leave extremely young. Sure he'd have to leave and become a bachlor on his own eventually, but he had heard his mother make sure with Sunblaze that he'd be able to stay with the herd a little longer than average if his size was still a major difficulty. And his size gave him low esteem, and -that- was the tiny colt's real problem.
The fight isn't over and isn't near over. Another stallion crept slowly in towards the fight. He was gangly and tall, bones sticking out here and there. Thin, but there was a hunger for killing in his eyes. Black eyes they were shadowed by black patches of fur around them. His fur was a sickly pale, pale yellow that neared white and his flames were an odd dark grey, matching the color of his oversized hooves. The rapidash gave a snort and then leapt into the battle, aiming a powerful kick of his massive hooves at Sunblaze.
