Darkfire moved quietly down the side of the river. He was very tired, he'd been trying out his Smokescreen attack. Darkfire liked to combo that with Tackle, but was too tired to do much else now. So tired... Darkfire thought, collapsing to the ground once he stopped moving. He shook his head, and moved over to the water. He dunked his head into it to get rid of his headache. Man, that feels better. Darkfire thought, pulling his head out of the river and taking a quick drink. "I really need to stop pushing myself so hard." Darkfire murmured.

The bulbasaur made his way to the bank of the river. He looked like an older bulbasaur nearing evolution, large for his kind and strong. But a troubling pattern of brownish spots speckled his skin and bulb here and there, like spots on a leaf. He noticed the cyndaquil but said nothing and started to drink from the river. There was a burning in his throat that only water could ease.

Darkfire turned his head, seeing an older bulbasaur. He shivered lightly, and began moving farther away from the older pokemon. Darkfire shivered again, and began to drink. Geez, what's with the shivering? I hope I'm not sick again. Darkfire thought. He remembered the last time he'd gotten sick, and he didn't like it. While drinking, Darkfire collapsed on weak legs again. Something's really wrong. Darkfire thought now, trying to take a drink and continue like nothing was wrong.

" 'Ey there." The bulbasaur lifted his head from drinking and noticed the skittishness of the young cyndaquil. Their kind were usually enemies, but the bulbasaur was larger and older than the young fire type and did not feel threatened by him. He knew they were both alone.
He paused to turn around and nip at his flank, where there were several of the brown lesion-like spots.

Darkfire moved away more, and took another drink. He might be just antisocial, but ever since his 'incident', other pokemon have scared the living shit out of him. "W-what do you want?" Darkfire asked squeamishly. He wanted to keep his distance, but could defend himself if needed.

" Me? This damn itching to stop...these spots ain't doing nothing good for my looks either." The bulbasaur frowned. He looked the cyndaquil up and down, thought it was ironic that this creature should be afraid of him. Him, a grass type!

Darkfire cocked his head. The Bulbasaur didn't seem like the people who'd tried to take him away, so he felt a bit better now. "What happened to get you the spots?" Darkfire asked. "Oh. I'm Darkfire." He added happily.

" I dunno, but some folks in my garden have them too. They just came from out of nowhere. I'm looking around trying to figure out how to get rid of'em. Nice ta meetcha Darkfire, I'm Gree. Son of Florifica, mother of the Garden I belong to."

Darkfire searched his memories. He remembered seeing something like this, but he didn't know where. Heated berry juice, of some type did the trick. "I think I remember something like this. Something like heated berry juice helped cure it." Darkfire explained. Where those memories came from, he didn't know. Are they from before I lost my parents? Darkfire wondered.

" Really? Thanks. I gotta tell my Garden then, a whole bunch of us have it," said Gree. " What kinda berry juice would I need for it?" He got up and intended to head towards the berry groves to find the right kind.

"I really don't remember. I just know it's brightly colored and sweet." Darkfire said. "Sorry if it's not that helpful." Darkfire said sadly. He really wished he could help more.

" There's a lotta berries like that," said Gree, and he climbed up from the bank of the river to have a look around for some berries. " Maybe if we go to the berry groves and have a look there?"
He stopped to get his bearings once he had climbed to the top of the bank, and swallowed a few times to try and quell the burning in his throat.

"Y-yeah. I should be able to recognize it." Darkfire said. He wondered just what the berry was called anyways. I shouldn't be so trusting though. I don't wanna deal with any of those other pokemon again...

Gree came to a sitrus tree. " Maybe this kind," he said. Sitrus berries had a healing power to them too. Maybe they would help him feel better, he was feeling pretty lousy.

Darkfire walked up and picked a Sitrus berry. He sniffed it, and then took a bite out of it. "Yes! This one is it, I recognize the taste! What type of berry is this?" Darkfire asked. He grabbed another one of the berries, and the fire on his back shot up. He put the bery over it for a few seconds, and then took it off, cracking it open. He handed it to Gree. "There, drink the juice from it."

Gree started to lap up the fruit from it. It didn't taste quite like he was used to it tasting, he wasn't sure why. Then came the startling fiery burn in his throat. It felt like hw had swallowed acid. " OWww!" He backed away from the berry as the juice continued to sting the inflamed flesh of his throat.

"Aw crap!" Darkfire murmured. He grabbed another berry, but this time began to draw heat from it, to cool it off. He cracked it open, and began to pour the cooled juice into Gree's mouth. "Sorry!" Darkfire said sadly, feeling guilty about the burning. He was wondering what had gone wrong...

" EEEEEE!" screamed Gree, further hurting his throat more, the acid in the juice stinging his throat. He rushed down to the river for some water to wash it down. " Whadya trying to do to me? That HURT!"
It was plain berry juice all right, but he just couldn't drink it. It hurt too much. He blinked his puffy red eyes and drank some more water.

"Sorry...I just wanted to help..." Darkfire murmured. He began to run from the area, not wanting to accidentally hurt anyone else. But before he got very far, he shivered again, and collapsed. He was breathing heavily, and was sweating. He was getting that deathly illness he'd had a while ago! He just didn't know if he'd get that miracle from last time.

Gree knew it wasn't Darkfire's fault. The bulbasaur struggled back up the bank after him, afraid that Darkfire would leave him, here alone and ailing, not knowing the possible cure for what was happening to him.
" Darkfire!" It hurt to shout, and his voice was hoarse. " Wait..."

Darkfire heard Gree shouting for him, and knew he couldn't reply. He tried getting back to his feet, but collapsed again. "...I wanna help..." Darkfire murmured, lapsing in and out of consciousness.

Gree found Darkfire lying on the forest floor in worse shape than himself. " Darkfire." He nudged the cyndaquil.

"Please...no..." Darkfire murmured, reminiscing the time he'd been attacked. He moaned lightly in pain, his fever now worse. He rolled onto his other side, and passed out.

Gree coughed, a painful thing to do with his hurting, burning throat. He blinked his hot, teary eyes and itched at his skin. His condition seemed to be growing worse too, but he couldn't just die now. He stayed with Darkfire waiting to see if the cyndaquil got any better. He didn't know what else to do.

Darkfire opened his eyes slightly, looking to Gree. "Use the juice...tell your garden...I know the stuff works." Darkfire smiled lightly. If this is the same sickness from last time, my body will last for another three days or so. I hope that's enough time to get cured... Darkfire thought. He wanted to believe he'd get cured or have another miracle. He just didn't really expect it.

" My garden...you need to visit my garden," said Gree. " You need to see them. Some of them are worse than me." He coughed again, hacking up some mucus onto the forest floor.

Darkfire nodded, and tried to get to his feet. He collapsed again, and sighed. C'mon Darkfire, you can't give up this easily! Pokemon need your help! He thought. He pushed himself to the limit, and felt something weird. Something he hadn't felt before. A burst of energy? With that last push, Darkfire unintentionally used his Flare Drive technique, covering his body in flames, but giving himself the needed boost of energy. "Alright, let's go. I'll get some berries, you lead the way." Darkfire said with a new strength. He quickly gathered some berries, and was ready to leave.

Gree jumped back from Darkfire when he flared out in fire. He kept a respectable distance from him as he led him towards his garden.
