Valor and Togepi walked into the Rainforest. Valor was holding Togepi since she was asleep. Valor looked around making sure everything was quiet.

Foliage rustled softly as a young Shinx trotted through the forest.His amber eyes darted warily from side to side, checking for danger.
Rustling came from up ahead, and Jay tensed. There was someone out there.
Oh, joy, he thought tiredly. Now I'll have to fight them, I guess. A few sparks crackled through his fur, which was bristling with apprehension.
Much to the amateur explorer's surprise, the Pokemon didn't look threatening. In fact, one of them was be asleep.
It would be so easy to just avoid them. But something made Jay step into the Charmander's path. He turned to face the stranger, slightly apprehensive. "Hello."

"Try to keep it down, Togepi was just born a few days ago and if she wakes up, it won't be pretty. And hello too. My name is Valor and this is Togepi. I take care of Togepi, I don't want anything happening to her. And how about you, do you have any friends?" Valor whispered.

Jay nodded, grinning slightly sheepishly when Valor told him to be quieter. "Sorry. Nice to meet you, Valor."
"And how about you, do you have any friends?"
The Shinx's fur bristled slightly at the Charmander's words. What's that supposed to mean? He was about to snap something angrily, but decided against it as he remembered the baby Togepi.
"I... I wander." You call that a reply? he muttered angrily to himself. But in his heart, he knew that it was the best thing to say. I shouldn't let myself get drawn into this.

The words echoed in Jay's ears. He wanted to shout 'yes!' immediately. But...
That's what got me into trouble before. Getting too attached to others.
I can't trust anyone.
But as he looked at Valor's honest face, he felt some of the doubt leave him. I could always leave; he doesn't look strong enough to stop me.
"All right," he said, flashing a shy grin. "For a while, at least."

"Nice to have you" Valor whispered as Togepi smiled. Togepi jumped down and hugged Jay. Togepi looked around and ran up ahead. "Follow me, I guess were going to the next place!" Valor said as he ran towards Togepi.

The young Shinx smiled slowly, still unable to grasp what he'd just gotten himself into. "Okay, then."
He broke into a trot, following Togepi and Valor. "So, where are we going?"
I hope it's someplace I haven't visited yet, he thought happily. Even though he carefully hid his dreams of being an explorer, they still tugged on him, pulling him through Erymire.
((Just so you know, I won't be able to post for a week or so. I'll come back as soon as I can.))

There was a flash and another Charmander bumped into Valor and toppled to the ground.
"Ow" he said, "that hurt"
