AGING AND DYING:
Game time runs swiftly compared to real life. About four years in the game pass for each RL year; each game year runs about 3 real months, each season, 3 weeks. Unless the pokedex provides info about a pokemon's lifespan, that lifespan will be considered to be about the same as its real-life counterpart, if it has a real-life counterpart. Your pokemons' ages will be kept track of, and when they ought to be getting old and dying you will be notified. Pokemon have lifespans similar to their real life counterparts, although insect and rodent pokemon have two or three years added onto that. A few, like Absol {90-100 years} and Ninetales {1000 years} have exceptionally long lifespans. Expect hybrids' lifespans to run between those of their parents' species or a little shorter than that average.
Pokemon who die may return as ghosts, go to the beginning dimension, or be reborn, but reborn pokemon lose all memory of their past lives. They can be reborn as a pokemon of the same sex and/or species that they were, or they may be of a totally different sex/species, it is up to the player. Reborn Pokémon must start out as a fertilised egg inside the body of a mother-to-be, no exceptions!
A comprehensive list of all pokemon in the game and their lifespans is in the works. Until it gets completed, if you want to know your pokemon's lifespan just ask!
