Erymire does not follow the same breeding rules as the gameboy games. Instead, a more realistic system is used. Pokemon belonging to these categories may breed with any other pokemon in their category, but only if size is similar enough:
Rodents/lagomorphs/bats
Primates/humanshapes
Carnivores {felines, canines, bears, mustelids}
Ungulates{hooved mammals} and Kangaskhans
Birds
Crocodilians and dragons
All other reptiles
Amphibians
Fish
Mollusks{shellfish and snails}
Arthropods{insects, arachnids and crustaceans}
Plants {this can be vague with some grass pokemon so feel free to ask!}
Not all pokemon lay eggs here. The method of reproduction is whatever method its real-life organism counterpart is. Mammals=live birth, birds=eggs, and so on. Most pokemon can breed at two years of age, and breed once a year; some like Rapidash can only breed once every other year and need to be three years old to breed. Others, like all rodents and arthropods, can breed at one year old, and breed twice every year. If you are unsure as to what breeding category a pokemon falls into, just ask!
When a mating occurs, how long the pregnancy or egg incubation takes really should depend on the species. We suggest waiting a few days to make it realistic, although lambs, calves, fawns and foals are born only in the spring or early summer.
When pokemon of two different species mate, the offspring will not necessarily be hybrids. They will often be the species of one parent or the other {tending towards the mother's species more often} with some characteristics of the other species, such as colour or movesets. True hybrids do occur, however!
Hybrids of any pokemon within any one category may be played by anyone. However, no hybrids between two differently evolved pokemon of the same species {such as eeveelutions} or hybrids between two different stage pokemon, because these things really makes no sense. In other words, you can have a Jolteon/Mightyena hybrid, but you can't have a Jolteon/Flareon hybrid {same species} or a Jolteon/poochyena hybrid {inconsistent stages}. A hybrid will have a number of evolutions the same as or in between those of its parents{a single-stage and a three-stage produce a two-stage hybrid}--in the case of a single-stage pokemon and a two-evo pokemon, or a two-evo and a three-evo pokemon, round it up to the nearest number. If any of this confuses you, just ask for clarification!
No hybrid may have more than two types, although a hybrid may have the species of one parent and the type of the other! When two different hybrids mate, the offspring can be a blend of all four species, or one or two species can dominate in the individual. However, blending is the most likely scenario. Even in this instance, though, the pokemon may not carry more than two elements.
Here in Erymire, legendaries are treated not as one-of-a-kind pokemon, but rather as rare species with extremely low numbers. Legendaries can breed, but most choose not to interbreed with non legendaries. A few (like Aruseus) cannot breed successfully outside their kind. If you disagree with the way legendaries are played here {and I've met some fans who have pretty strong feelings about this} remember that you do not have to play a legendary, or play at all. {we'll miss ya, but no one RPG is for everyone!}
Ghost pokemon cannot breed.
