BASIC RULES:
General Conduct: Be nice to other players. If you put anyone down, name-call, or attack people personally, you will be warned, and then banned if you continue.
Role-playing:
You CANNOT play ANY humans. You play WILD pokemon. Since the land of Erymire has no human settlements {though there's ancient evidence of them} your character cannot have any past history with humans unless coming from a very remote place.
ALL new players MUST start out with an unevolved {basic} pokemon. When you reach 50 posts on your profile you may play once-evolved pokemon if you wish, then when you reach 150 posts you may play any non-legendary pokemon of any evolution.
Post your character's stats {name, species, age, sex, description, appearance, personality, history}on the Character Submissions board. You don't need approval to begin RPing, but you are responsible for knowing the rules, so READ THE RULES! ^_^
For accurate information on all pokemon species, we recommend you use the pokedex on www.serebii.net . We go by 4th generation movesets, types and stats although moves dropped from a pokemon's abilities in later generations can still be learned by those pokemon.
Special powers that your chosen species does not ordinarily have, must be approved by staff. Hybrids will have intermediate abilities and stats between those of their parents. They will NOT be more powerful than either parent or have the "best of both worlds" . For more on Hybrids, see Breeding.
Use third person {he/she/it--NOT "I"}, past tense, to post for your character.
You must post all character dialogue inside quotation marks {""}. You must name your character{s} in your post. A line or two of dialogue alone isn't enough--the character must be named in narration, even if only "Bob said", Bob being the name of the character.
All threads, unless marked as private or closed, are open for any player to hop into. We encourage players to join each other's threads, it creates interesting stories.
No Autoing {playing other people's characters}.
No killing others' characters. Characters, such as prey or defeated pokemon, always have the right to successfully flee from an enemy.
Characters who wander onto a prisoner-taking region {such as the Fortress} WILL be captured. Those who resist arrest too severely may be killed. So unless you want to have your character taken prisoner, do not wander onto these lands! Exceptions would be if you wanted to start a character belonging to {or born into} the dark horde on the Fortress territory.
No Godmoding/Powerplaying {making your character unbelievably powerful/invincible, or just overall disregarding the rules in order to lord it over other players}.
In a battle, the defending pokemon decides how much damage there will be or whether it dodges. You can't attack twice in one turn. Once the fight has gone on a bit, a moderator will decide who wins, unless the players have already agreed on who will win. Winning is based on character species, stats, type, level, age, strategy, how powerful it is overall, what it is fighting for, and how well each player RPed. People who powerplay in battle automatically lose.
Regarding NPCs: Non-player characters may be created and used by anyone who needs them. These pokemon can be evolved or unevolved, any level that they need to be for the story. However, any player can control NPCs and they can be killed off any time by anyone. So don't get too attached to them!
Regions are large and there can be more than one pack, clan, or herd per region. If you have a pack who is claiming territory in a given region, just put in a request for a sub-board to be made for them and it shall be done. The same territory can be occupied by a pack and a herd, but predators will be likely to prey on that herd. All the better for plot, though! ^_^
Friendships between predators and prey are highly unlikely. This is a realistic RPG {or at least as realistic as pokemon can be}. If you want to befriend a specific character I suggest creating another character of a suitable species to do so if you don't have one already. There are no limits on how many characters you can have.
This is a pokemon, not a pokemorph RPG. Aside from a few pokemon, mostly psychics and legendaries, pokemon do not possess human-level {or higher} intelligence. While they are smarter than most real animals, avoid having them do things that are uniquely human such as read, write, fashion complex tools and create great works of art. Think of your pokemon as wild animals.
Fan pokemon: ARE allowed and encouraged! Erymire's world is home to theoretically millions of pokemon species, so there's room to spare! Just make sure your fan pokemon characters abide by the same rules as canon pokemon characters do.
EVOLVING:
When your posting status permits, you may evolve your characters if you wish. At higher postcounts you may start new characters already evolved. If your pokemon needs an item to evolve, they may journey to the caverns that hold these items {where they are guarded} or find the item in their area. Evolving pokemon spontaneously is frowned upon.
When you first join, your status will be 'Poké Egg'. Through frequent IC posts, you will advance in status. At each stage you will be permitted to start higher level characters or advance your lower characters to a higher level/evolution. Levels permitted are as follows:
Poké Egg Status {up to 49 posts} = Unevolved pokemon, level 5 or less, purebred or hybrid. No Legendaries or legendary hybrids. Pokemon may -not- evolve yet, with or without items.
Baby Pokémon Status {50 to 149 posts}= Pokemon or pokemon hybrids of basic or stage one permitted. {May be evolved once.}
Basic Pokemon status {150-299 posts}= Pokemon of any evolution allowed. No Legendaries, but half-legendary hybrids are permitted.
Stage One status {300-499 posts}= Pokemon of any evolution allowed. No Legendaries but half-legendary hybrids permitted.
Stave Two status {500-999 posts}= Pokemon of any evolution allowed. No Legendaries but half-legendary hybrids permitted.
Level 100 Pokemon status {1000-1999 posts}= Any non-legendary pokemon of any level/evolution permitted. No legendaries allowed but half-legendary hybrids permitted.
Legendary Status{2000-4999 posts}= Pokemon of any level or evolution allowed. Legendaries {except for restricted species} and half-legendary hybrids permitted.
Pokegod Status {5000+ posts}= Any pokemon permitted, granted that it is cleared with the staff first if of a restricted species. Some restricted species cannot be played by anyone; under special circumstances they may play a part in a storyline or plot. A few {like Alcatraz} play an ongoing role in the game's functions.
If a legendary is not listed under these lists it is an unrestricted legendary and playable by anyone with at least 2000 posts.
Restricted Species:
Mewtwo
Lugia
Aruseus
Jirachi
Deoxys
Dialga{Cannot be played at all}
Palkia
Celebi{Cannot be played at all}
Rayquaza
Unoun
Permission is also needed to include any of these species in a character's background.
There is no restriction on how many characters you may have, but you must keep all of them active!
HORDE RULES:
The Horde is the evil-aligned sort of mafia-like huge organization of pokemon who make the Fortress their home. They will send out their members to bring back slaves/prisoners or recruits. If you have your character get captured by the Horde he/she cannot escape unless released. If a character voluntarily joins the Horde, he/she cannot defect from the Horde; any that do will be killed for their treason. They might not be tracked down and killed right away, but it will happen. However, if you wish, it can be arranged that some time elapses before the Horde locates the traitor and ends their life, so that they can have kits or complete unfinished business before they die.
