Asteria's ears were laid smoothly atop her head, her tail curled under her body. She was afraid, her parents had urged her to seek out a new home for herself, she had said yes, but the creeping moonlight spooked her, and the reflections in the water blinded her silly. She silently darted under a tree and watched the gentle waves move across the water. She sighed, lonely. She curled up into a tight ball and tried to go to sleep, but hoothoots and noctowls cooed and cawed in the night, bugs darted this way and that, though the bushes and out again. She whimpered and huddled near the tree, hoping she would fall asleep, but it never did.
She sighed, and looked out at the river, the sun was soon coming, she felt it. She got up and looked over the waters edge, her beautiful puppy face looked tired, her bushy tail wet from her sweat, she was a growlithe, and she had always hoped she would evolve, and be like her parents. Tall and mighty, and protect my young, but she was just a pup, no more than that. She sighed and sat, watched herself in the water. Her stomache growled, but she had never eated meat before, or if she ever could.
