Character's name: Orion.
Species: Ponyta.
Age: 1,5 year old colt.
Sex: Male.
Description: Orion is a young foal, the first born to his mother, Silverhoof. As his mother is pretty much defined by the color of her hooves, this is one of the first things people expected her son to inherit. He got most of his fathers looks though, and the lead stallion had pitch black hooves. Like many foals Orion was born in a color that will change as he grows up, leaving the herd in mystery as to what his final coat color will be, but right now he's a dark grey colt with black hooves.
His eyes are sky blue, with a rather thick black line surrounding the iris. Currently standing at an unimpressive 2'3", he hopes to grow much more so that one day he'll be able to stand as tall as his dad. As young Ponyta's usually don't show flame until their off their mothers milk the herd was fairly surprised to see Orion produce a silvery blue flame the first time he tried. They'd heard of rumors surrounding shiny Ponyta's, or rather, blue flames, but had never seen them in their own herd. Some of them thought his mother carried the gene inside of her, shown by the silver hooves.
Personality: Being one of the few males born into the herd, Orion can be quite the macho. He likes to frolic around with the others and they often go and race each other. Friendly but wary of strangers, he's been taught not to go into unexplored territory as that would most likely result in something bad. He's open minded but still young, so he often follows his mother in what she says and does, letting that influence him. He'll likely change when he hits puberty, but so far he's still pretty much of a mama's boy.
He is mightily curios and plans on seeing the rest of the world some day, hoping that that would give him the satisfaction he is looking for. The life he is leading right now would be perfect, had he not heard about there being more then just this.
History: As he was born in late fall, he's had it rather tough the first few months, with it being winter and most of the food frozen. His mother and the rest of the herd tried to protect their foals as much as they could, melting down clearings and drying out wood with their embers and other fire attacks to create an area where they could survive, but food was still scarce.
After a few weeks hunger started to kick in and the herd was forced to relocate, loosing one mare and her foals to the cold and the frost before they finally found a secluded area that protected them from the wind and ice where they could make up a camp for the rest of the winter. They ate bark from the surrounding trees and in return for letting local pokemon share the warmth of their fires, the got berries and other food.
Spring came and with it new experiences. Orion's flame lit for the first time and the pregnant mares that came out of winter unscathed gave birth, letting the herd welcome four mares into their midst. With Orion still being the only colt in the group, chances were he'd be the one following in his fathers hoof prints and take over one day. While that used to be his goal in life, there was one meeting that changed his view of everything.
A young Vulpix had been passing by and watched him race the filly's until one of them noticed him. She'd given a spooked neigh and turned around, hiding behind her mothers legs. Orion, stopping in his tracks, told the remaining filly's to go back to the herd. He was planning on returning with them, but his curiosity got the best of him.
The Vulpix had told him about the land beyond the meadow and forest he had been growing up in so far. He told him about mountains and hundreds of other kinds of Pokemon that lived just beyond the closest mountain range up north. Orion had never heard of this and wanted to see it, he wanted to experience these things called ocean and beach and desert.
So now he no longer wants to lead the herd and spends his time praying another colt will be born into the herd.
[PS. I suck at making sprites, I don't have any other designing program other then paint ever since my overzealous sister 'was going to install CS3 for me' and failed. So, unless I find the time to draw one, there will likely not be an image. Sorry. Here's a picture of him right now, but then add the firey mane and all that jazz. Click me]
