Berry Hunting (OPEN)

Dyana was low on her belly, her ears flat and her nose taking in every scent. Since their encounter with the mysterious black Eevee, Dyana had learned to be be careful about how she looked after herself. Well, truth be told, it was peaceful here, but she had to be sure. She took in one good long whiff, and found no other scents. She stood up, her head poking up from the underbrush.

"Hey!" shouted Rimitsu from up in the tree above her, "We're supposed to be hunting for berries! This places has loads, I can smell them!" Indeed, there were many kinds. As Dyana ruffled her bright reddish fur she could smell thousands of berry scents she recognized, and a few she couldn't.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming. Just making sure no one was around, that's all," she shouted back, with a hint of sarcasm flitting through her voice.

Aurora sniffed the air, searching for a certain delicious smell. She was hungry, and hadn't eaten all day. As a result, she wasn't very picky at all, as long as she found some food! Anything would do, and it just so happened that these berries were the closest food she knew about. Her tail swayed back and forth as she sniffed the air, trying to scent out the different berries and figure out which kind she would sample first.

The smell that assaulted her nose wasn't one she was expecting. In fact, she was caught completely by surprise, since as far as she knew, no other pokemon lived nearby. She sniffed the air again, not believing what her nose had told her, but yet again, she smelled the same distinctive scent, the telltale sign that another pokemon had been through here recently.

Her tail waved back and forth in the air as she quickly decided what to do. This could be fun! was her conclusion, so she hurried off in the direction the scent was coming from.

(OOC: Bleh, the best I could come up with, and I know it's pitiful. Aurora is coming from the direction Dyana and Rimitsu entered in, following their path)

Dyana was trudging along, buried once more in the underbrush, searching for berries that might have fallen off any one of the trees above or simply grew on the ground. A delicious scent wafted through her nostrils; and it was close.

Rawst berries! Oh, what delicacies these are! We hardly even see these back home, much less eat them! She popped back up and out of the grass, turning her head upwards toward her brother. "Hey, I found some Rawst berries!" Rimitsu turned on the branch he stood on, staring at her. "Truly?" She nodded feverishly. "Keep an eye out for some more, I love those things." And he padded on.

Dyana smiled. Of course she'd keep a lookout. After she'd had one of the berries of course. Where she came from, bitter berries helped you live longer, supposedly, so everyone sort of developed a love for them. She gently bit one off and chewed it, swallowing it and relishing the taste. She'd only just swallowed the rest when she was barreled into by another Pokemon! "Ah!" she cried.

"Dyana!" Rimistu called, hearing her, "Are you all right?" "I think so... I don't know about what ran into me though..."

Ebony gave a startled whimper as she looked with frantic eyes at the sight of other pokemon being there, she wasn't the social type. The meek Poochyena gave another whimper as her legs propelled her to the nearest thicket of berries. Tail twitching in nervousness, she scuttled over to the berry bush as her head peeked out from behind said bush. Body shivering with fear or was it excitement? Ebony wasn't sure... 'I-I wasn't expecting others to be here... I j-just wanted some berries..' She thought as she hoped the twin evees and the the new arrival evee did not see her.... "All I wanted was some berries..." She muttered softly to herself. What a bad day for Ebony....

Rimitsu, high up in the trees, could not wait for Dyana to answer. The tree was rather tall, and he'd jumped onto it from one of the trees behind him. He'd climbed a tree that he was able, and as far as he could tell, this tree was the only tree he could do the same with for a long while. He had to ignore the strange, long blue berries that hung from the branches of a tree farther on, and climbed down. What he found, however, was not what he expected.

A small, timid Poochyena, sat in the bush he'd landed in. They were almost nose to nose. Rimistu was stunned for a moment, and recoiled backwards. He steadied his breathing, and gave a tentative sniff.

"Ah... hello. Are you all right? I'm sorry if I scared you..." He sniffed the air once more, and found she was not dangerous. "You don't seem dangerous... hey, would you like to come hunt berries with me?"


(OOC: It's all good. I do seem to notice, though, that Eevee and Poochyena are very popular starters... I wonder why. Hmm. *shrugs*)

U-Um... I g-guess... That would be good..." Stuttered Ebony as she quirked a ear to the left, almost twitchy for anymore noises that would scare her. ".. My name is Ebony.... W-What's your names?" Ebony asked timidly as she sat on her hind legs ears in a droop as she looked awfully depressed at the moment, though in reality this was her normal stance. She tried to give a small smile, though it only turned into a sad frown on her snout. Well she's trying.

(OOC: Sorry it took so long, every time I wanted to respond, my internet went down so I couldn't reference the previous posts. Even this post is kinda unimaginitive and rushed =.=)

Aurora was so busy following the scent that she didn't even notice the other pokemon. She crashed, getting knocked off balance and landing on her back. "Ow..." she muttered, rolling back over and shaking herself to fluff her fur back out. "Sorry about that," she said. "I wasn't watching where I was going." Looking around, she noticed they were at the very same berry bushes she herself had been seeking. "Heh, so you were hungry too?" she asked the other Eevee, snapping a berry up for herself. "I'm Aurora," she said suddenly. "What's your name?"

Dyana shook herself and stared at the Eevee named Aurora. Blinking, she stumbled back up onto her feet and she stood on somewhat wobbly legs. She shook herself, her fur fluffed up with leaves stuck in odd places. Sighing, she ignored them and put on a smile for a other Eevee. "I'm Dyana. That's like die-ah-na, if you were wondering. Anyway, it's okay, nothing's broken...I think." Dyana shook herself a final time and at last the leaves fell out of her fur.

"At last! I'm clean!" She gave short burst of laughter and her eyes flickered back to Aurora. "Yeah, I was hungry too, yeah. My brother and I were hunting for berries, since this is after all Berry Forest." She chuckled, and tilted her head downward slightly, her furry cheeks filling with heat.

A few feet away...

"Um...I'm Rimitsu, and my sister, the reddish Eevee with the white fur collar back there, is Dyana. You okay? I really am sorry if I scared you." Rimitsu chuckled sheepushly.

"So what berries do you like in particular? I'm more for the ones that are hard and sour at the shell, and chewy and sweet at the center. I think sis, prefers the plain mushy kind. She's not real particular about what kinds she eats." Again, he chuckled and then he made a 'shrugging' motion with his front shoulders.

Dyana could hear rumbling deep in the heart of the forest. Something, an instinct of a sort, told her that they were needed there. She and Rimitsu.

"Ri! We..we need to go!"

Rimitsu turned to the odd-colored Poochyena after looking back at his sister to listen to what she had said. "I'm sorry friend, but my sis needs me. Perhaps someday we'll meet again. Seeya!"

Rimitsu bounded towards Dyana. Frowning, he spoke to her. "What, Dyana? I was talking to someone!" Dyana turned around, her fluffy tail brushing his nose, making it twitch, and then sneeze. She spoke to the other Eevee softly. "I'd love to stop and chat, but I think we're needed somewhere. In the heart of the forest. You can follow us if you like."

She turned to Rimitsu again. "Well, I've taken care of my business. C'mon! Let's go!"

And with that, they bounded off into the trees, berries falling and tumbling in their wake.

Aurora was surprised and a little disappointed when the other eevee quickly departed. There was nothing to be done though. Just then, a little growl brought her mind back to the reason she came in the first place. That's right, food! she thought.

She went around, eating her fill.before turning to head back. She looked around one last time before heading out to find something else to do today.
