A sad ninetails sat next to the lake, an equally sad reflection stared back at her. "Big sister," a female eevee said, jumping over to the ninetails. The young one had taken to calling the fox-like pokemon that after she had saved the young one from a large pokemon she didn't know. "Have you seen Shadow? He ran off again and I haven't seen him in a while," the eevee stated. The ninetails shook her head.

Jamie swam under the water. He was doign spins and twirls and loody loops under the water when he seen the Ninetails. He swam up slightly close and popped out his head and watched the Fire pokemon with intrest.

A combusken watched the strange Ninetails warily. His arms were crossed and his head was held low. The chicken pokemon was leaning against a tree, chewing a stick in it's beak. They looked harmless, but the Combusken had learned not to judge by appearences.

The ninetails seemed startled by the two new pokemon. "Hello," she said calmly, stepping away from the water but avoiding the combusken. The eevee hid behind her. She knew many fire types like the combusken, but she had never seen a pokemon like the one in the water. Since she was, after all, a fire type, she got closer to the combusken.

The combusken leaned off the tree. He spit out the peice of wood he had been chewing on. "Hey, Jamie. i don't know who these ladies are, but I'm Burner. . . Number 135. . . Burner 135. That's what they call me." He said casually while strutting up to them. He was hot, literally. The grass around him almost started on fire.

These new pokemon seemed friendly enough, so the ninetails sat down and relaxed. "My name is Ai," she answered. The eevee, seeing that Ai had trusted them, smiled and sat next to the fox-pokemon. "And I'm Dawn. It's nice to meet you both," she said happily.

"It is nice to meet you all..." he said as he climbed out of the water. His tail glowed lightly in the light as his whiskers fluddered in the slight breeze.

Dawn walked up to Jamie. He had caught her interest, and she wanted a good look.
Ai simply smiled, keeping an eye on Dawn, just in case.

Jamie looked down to the small pokemon. "his taill swished lightly back and forth in the water. "What is an Eevee and a beautiful Ninetails...and a combusken doing out here?" Jamie asked mostly to Ai

Ai smiled lightly at Jamie. "I'm not sure about our cumbusken friend," she started, glancing at Burner, "but we're looking for Dawn's brother. A troublesome eevee named Shadow."

The combusken listened quietly, arms still crossed. "I'm just fishing." He said leaning back against the tree. He just stood there, apparently bored. He turned to jamie. "Probably deserved it. You don't say the wrong things to the wrong pokemon." He said simply.

The combusken ignored Jamie's low growl. He didn't have a reason to respond to another pokemon's anger.

"I see we have something in common," Ai said to Jamie emotionlessly. Dawn looked confused at this, then suddenly remembered. "Oh, yes! Ai's childhood friend died recently," she whispered.

"You're correct," Ai said to the other fire-type. "We shouldn't dwell on the past. But tell me, is there a real reason you're here? Just curious, of course. Just to be on the safe side." she stated, remembering that Burner had said that he was just fishing.

The sombusken closed it's eyes and leaned back against the tree. "Nope. . . Just fishing. I did come here for another reason, but that was a long time ago. I don't think they're showing up." The combusken said cooly. It was still several yards from the water. He was still sticking to the story.

"Alright, then," Ai said, "you have your story and we have ours." Then, leaving it at that, she turned to the eevee who had nearly fallen asleep on the ground. "You need to get home, little one. Your mom's probably worried. I'll find Shadow," she stated.
Dawn made no arguement; she simply stood up and smiled sleepily. "Good bye, everyone! It was nice meeting you!" she called and ran off. "She lives near here," Ai said, just to state the fact.

"I had a feeling about that..." Jamie replied. He splashed some water onto him and made sure not to splash the fire pokemon. "you know...I seen a Ninetales some ways back...I think he was in the Rainforest last time I checked..." he said to Ai

The combusken sniffed the air and stayed silent. He really didn't care if there was a ninetails in the forest or not. This shadow wasn't the person he was looking for.

"Another ninetails?" Ai questioned. She had recently evolved, and even as a vulpix she had never seen another ninetails. She shook her head while she mentally punished herself. Her goal was to find the child first.
"Thank you for telling me. It'll be nice to meet another one," she said to Jamie, smiling. "I'll go that way after I find Shadow. Maybe he's around. He can't have gotten too far," she muttered, mostly to herself. She stood up. "I would love to talk more, but I must find him. It was a pleasure meeting you," she added quickly. Then, looking at the combusken, she finshed, "Both of you."
((I'll probably leave 'er for a while and then take her to a thread in the middle meadow with Shadow in it, just in case you cared or wanted to tag along. Just stop her real quick if you wanna. Doesn't matter to me. ))
