What is your choice of music for roleplaying?
I prefer the sweet lullabies of violins and pianos. The lack of words via singing helps me concentrate better and keeps me motivated without distracting me. Sometimes I go onto music sites such as IMEEM and let playlists of over 30+ songs play non-stop with classical renditions as I work.
It's peaceful enough.

My choice of music depends on the character. For most of them I prefer a calm melodious assorment of violens and orchestra. For my more comedic characters I go with a techno version of "In the hall of the mountain king" remix. For my evil charecters I like to go with a heavy metal band full of minor chords, and death. For alex, i listen to my own songs, since that expresses that little devil the best.

I am usually the same, when I'm writing I need classical or smooth jazz songs lull my muse into working. Chris Spheeris is amazing, I listen to all his works.
Sometimes though, when the mood can't be covered by such music, such as fight scenes, or in evil-ish settings, I tend to find more upbeat songs, or songs in a different language that I can't understand, like Gackt, who sings in Japanese.

Soft-sounding songs with lyrics that really push me to think and feel them. Music that really gets down inside of me and opens me up to the greater creative energy out there. I prefer the more alternative, 'artsy' acoustic music out there to the hardcore rock or rap music. I enjoy contemporary a great deal.
Classical inspires me sometimes, yes, but most of the time it leads me to go on near endless rambles of description that vex me because it's so draining and I've covered so little. I like classical when I'm feeling a little self-indulgent, but when I'm trying to stick a message in my writing that others will actually be able to pick up on, I go for the more modern sounds. Yes, I am a Top-40's scouter, but I only gravitate to bands that actually demonstrate an appreciation for lyrics and creative process.
OneRepublic, The Fray, A Fine Frenzy, The Hush Sound, and Paolo Nutini being some of my favorite bands/musicians. [/font]

I have a wide selection of music that I listen to almost constantly, and what artist I listen to has to do with how I'm feeling at the time. I'd say my taste is a little on the ecletic side, artists I listen to include: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Who, Sublime, Steve Miller Band, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice In Chains, Queen, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Jimi Hendrix, Collective Soul, Bush, Black Sabbath, Rush...
The list goes on and on. Some of them, like my all time favorite band Led Zeppelin, are really diverse bands, their songs fit all sorts of moods. Plus, Led Zeppelin's lyrics sometimes involve fantasy like Lord Of The Rings.
