Hello all. ♥
It took me quite a while to decide on whether or not I should join this site. It seems to be well organized and the members seem more than kind.
You may refer to me as Rainy –as most people do- or if you simply must, you can call me Abby. Surprisingly, the name Rainy has a bit of background for me. : ) I’m a fourteen year old, moving into my sophomore year of high school next year. My birthday’s in about two weeks, so I’ll be fifteen then. I dread being the youngest every year in school, (because my birthday’s so late) but what can you do?
I’ve been participating in many rpgs of all varieties for about 4 years now. My posts never slid behind 500+ words, but I must be fairly accustomed to my characters before I can post with such familiarity. Usually once I’m immensely used to them, my posts reach a bare minimum of 1000+ words. But just starting out, I wouldn’t expect more than 250 words.
I can’t wait to start rping at all! I want to have threads with each and every one of you ♥ .
And for a quick side note, my favorite Pokemon would have to be Jolteon. : )

A hearty welcome from the resident bird brain. You certainly seem to know your way around an RPG. I look forward to RPing with you, Rainy. Enjoy the site. And my favorite Pokemon is Pidgeot.

Nice, a fan of multi-para roleplay. That's exciting. Hope we can roleplay sometime, multi-para is my favorite. But so far I've been going with semi to single para here since I don't want to bog down those who use two lines or so.
By the way, Jolteon rules!

Speaking of Jolteon..
Welcome to the forums -- I hope your time here is spent in absolute enjoyment. I've been a roleplayer for many years and enjoy a good multi-paragraph thread myself (and have been meaning to make one). If you ever feel like joining, let me know. I miss typing more than a few sentences and find it completely impossible to do less than four or five sentences here; hard habits, I guess?
My name is Aurel by the way, but feel free to call me what you wish. Look me up if you do create a new thread of rather strict rules?

Of course, Aurel. I'll be sure to do that. Actually, i'm planning on creating one today. I'll send you a PM once it's finished. I absolutely love your avatar, by the way.

I am wondering how I somehow missed this thread. I go by many names, but here I'm called Aeroth. I love writing of any kind, especially roleplaying. I find RP'ing like training for the real thing, writing full-length books, so I attempt to make my posts as detailed and long as possible without being monotonous. Perhaps we could RP together and you could help me improve.
I mean, I consider myself literate, maybe even advanced, but I've never took into account the number of words in each post. For me, it's not so much the quantity, but quality, but most of the time I find the two are interconnected.

Well I simply adore your avatar because the artist who does interpretations of pokemon in a realistic manner is simple awesome. I used his/her works for my Jolteon's profile (even though I'm stuck roleplaying an Eevee until I reach 50 posts).

I mean, I consider myself literate, maybe even advanced, but I've never took into account the number of words in each post. For me, it's not so much the quantity, but quality, but most of the time I find the two are interconnected. I see what you mean in the argument of quality over quantity, but the whole point to challenging yourself with word count is to be as detailed and thorough as possible without being (as you said) monotonous. Sometimes you improve the quality of your post or work by utilizing the quantity of your words.
Not to mention, in all honesty, I think it is rather a silly to post two or three sentences for a roleplay. The whole point is to take on the role of your character -- feel, react, and interact with your surroundings as they would. It's more than just where he/she stands, says, and do. It's about what they smell.. What the feel.. How's the weather? Et cetera and et cetera..
When you put yourself in roleplays for quantity and quality, it may go a tad slower because it takes so much effort to produce grand pieces of reading -- but that's the beauty of it. I challenge myself to work faster on longer pieces; and more often than not, I don't have to sacrifice quality, just sanity.

I can completely agree. One or two-liners are one of my pet peeves. I can understand writer's block at times, but when it's over and over...I just refuse to post when I have writer's block.

How would one find this guy's pictures? The realistic avatar guy, I mean...Me=jealous. I know the artist who did the Jolteon I used in my profile and the Arcanine in the avatar is kankakanka from DeviantArt. This artist has also done Houndoom, Flareon, Vaporeon, Ninetails, and a few others.. His/Her realistic portraits are to die for!

I can see that. Do you have to get permission to use them though?

Long as you don't attempt to say the works are yours and try to mention the link to kankakanka's DA site or his/her name and that her work is derived from the site, you'll be fine. If you don't feel comfortable using it, then don't -- that's my whole philosophy.

Yeah, I have no problem with that. Otherwise that would be stealing. Sadly I don't have a character that corresponds with his/her art. It also seems he/she only does quadropeds. Notice he/she hasn't done Umbreon or Espeon either...oh well
We probably shouldn't be talking about this here, eh? Sorry Rainy...

Erm....you do realize, after obviously reading the rules, that you can only create a character at a max of level five, right? You sure you want to battle with a level five Pokemon?
P.S. posting a Out Of Character post in an In Character thread without any indication of such is a REALLY bad idea.

Sometime today or tomorrow, (I'm not quite sure about today because I'm getting a new kitten) I'll make a thread that we can all post in with the more "strict" rules, as you put it Aurel. That artwork is absolutely amazing! That person has a true talent for the arts.
(By the way, Cody is my little brother, so he's VERY new to this RP thing. I'm trying to help him out, so it may take a little while for him to learn the ropes. Thanks for helping him though, Aeroth.)
As for talking about this subject, I think we should bring it to a closure. Once I make the thread, I'll send you both a PM with a link.

Not really sure about 'stric' rules, but it sounds like fun.
I only wish I could be close to half that good eventually. Holy cow that work is amazing.
Ahh, little bro, eh? I'm really sorry I reacted that way. I suspected he was new, but I think I was a little harsh. Today's been trying for me. Excuse any rudeness, please. This will probably be my last post in this thread anyway.
