A Home Amongst the Berries (Open!)

The wind blew through the groves, the scent of berries carried on it. It was a delicious smell to any Pokemon, especially a very hungry one.

A small blue-purple-colored nose poked from in-between two bushes. With a few twitches, air was pulled into the nostrils, telling the Pokemon it belonged to everything she needed to know. There was good food here, and plenty of it. Beyond that, there was also land here. Plenty of room for a Nidoran such as herself to live in. Her burrow wouldn't take up much room...And there were plenty of berries to go around.

The small creature hopped out from the bushes, exposing her spotted body to the open. She shivered slightly, as she always did when exposed so completely, but that was instinct. She wasn't afraid. There were plenty of hiding spaces around here, and she was fairly fast. So what if this wasn't really true Nidoran territory? She could adapt...She had before.

A few excited steps later, she was at a bush of oran berries. One paw reached out, touching the berry gently until it swung on its stem. Then the other paw slowed its motion, and held it still while her teeth bit through the stem attaching it to the bush. The berry hit the ground, and rolled a little ways, before Jael stopped it. She lowered her head, picking the berry up in her paws, and sank her sharp teeth into it. The juices leaked into her dry mouth, and she instantly felt her body healing slightly. It was an artificial healing, but it would make her feel better until she truly was better. When the first berry was gone, she snatched another one off the bush, and ate it, too.

Once she had eaten her fill, she walked slowly away. She wasn't in a hurry, she had the rest of her life, afterall. But she would like to make a burrow here, make this place her home. It had all the food she could want, and it felt safe. So when she found a tree with a small hole in the trunk at her level, and a size big enough for her to fit in, perhaps a bit too big, she thought it was perfect. She went inside the hole, and decided it'd be nice shelter. If she dug underground here, the burrow would stay warm and dry, even if it snowed or rained. Her claws, though not the sharpest of the Pokemon world, made quick work of the digging. She shoved the dirt out of the hollow until the burrow was big enough for her. Since she was the only one living it in, it didn't take all that long.

When she was done, she went back outside of the hollow in the tree, and lay down outside. She was pretty tired, but she wanted to see if anyone came around this area.

[Adam White - Turtwig]

Adam trudged into the area, looking back incase that scyther was following him, The rest of the group (Alai and Chareur) should have followed him. Why hadnt Arryl With them? and what was with that Scyther. Adam walked into the Groves and saw the pokemon - A Nidoran Adam thought. "Hello? I am Adam" Adam said, "My Friends Should be along soon, sorry if we intruded on your Territory."

[Omega]

Chareur just caught up, "Gee, thanks for waiting for me, Adam."

[Epi]

Alaia followed right behind Chareur, panting with exhaustion. All six of her tails drooped tiredly, and she looked up at the new Pokemon with only mild interest. " We--I--he...hi, " she panted, her words coming out as gibberish, " I'm Alaia, nice to meet ya'. "

[Omega]

"Where's Aryll?" asked Chareur.

[Adam White - Turtwig]

"Well it is night, I guess we take base here, So I guess every 3 places we go to, we make camp, Sorry if I wore you guys out" Adam smiled, He went under a large Berrytree, he circled it and found a large hole in the middle of it, He went in to check it out, He looked around and found a massive pile of leaves, he dug through the pile of leaves. A small red stone, "WoW" Adam said, "Is this a fire stone?"

Chareur was already gorging on berries when Adam had spoke.

[Epi]

Alaia's ears twitched at Adam's words. " Fire stone! " She said excitedly, " Where is it? I think my mother told me that if I find a fire stone, I could evolve into a Ninetales! " She walked near Adam, searching for the fire stone.

[Adam White - Turtwig]

"Chareur leave the berries and look at this" Adam said, "I think this is a Firestone, and it might evolve Alai" Adam said Smiling "I'll give it to her tomorro" Adam said falling asleep in the hollow part of the tree.

[Omega]

Chareur swallowed the berries in his mouth and ran over to Adam. "Really?"

[Epi]

" Tomorrow? " Alaia said, obviously disappointed, " Fine, I'll wait until then. " Honestly, she felt like she could never wait. I mean, sure, being a Vulpix was fun and all, but Ninetales were way better! Not only could they live for one thousand years, but they could also take complete control of someones mind, or cast thousand year curses on people they hate. Not that she would cast a curse on anyone, but it would be nice holding that threat over someones head. She snuggled up near a nearby berry bush, trying to sleep. " Are the berries any good? " She asked Chareur.

[Omega]

"Depends," replied Chareur, "Some are good. Others aren't."

[Epi]

" Well then, guess I'll just have to try one, " She murmured, stuffing the first berry she found in her mouth. Immediately, her eyes widened in alarm. The berry tasted bitter, spicy, and sour all at once! Alaia spat the berry out in disgust, licking her fur in order to get the horrible taste out of her mouth. " I think I got a bad one, " she squeaked, " I'll be going to sleep now. G'night. "

[Adam White - Turtwig]

~**~ IN THE MORNING ~**~

Adam rose, picked up the firestone and trotted over to where Alai was. He Placed it near her head then poked her with his foot, "Alaia, wake up" He muttered. Adam hadnt heard, Chareur going to sleep, Had he stayed up all night? if he had he'd be exausted all day today.

[Epi]

Alaia looked at Adam sleepily, still having one eye closed. " Hmm, what? " She murmured, still not fully awake. All of a sudden, her body felt like it was on fire. She could feel her six tails splitting apart to form nine, and her body shape stretching and growing taller. With a flash of light, she had become a Ninetales. Alaia blinked for a few seconds, before smiling at Adam.

" You should warn me if you plan on evolving me, " she grinned, " Because that was one heck of a wake up call. "

Alaia looked down at her feet. She was a bit short for a Ninetales, but she still towered over Adam and Chareur.

[Adam White - Turtwig]

"I dont do things the kind way" Adam laughed, "I think we should begin to set off, I dont know where Chareur is, but we cant stop for long, Something will hold us up if we wait" Adam knew what it was that was trying to stop Adam's pack, Adam's Dad - A Torterra with a nasty Temper. "We go through the meadow, the swamp and the thicket, then we are at the Plains. "The thing that is going to stop us cant get us once we get into the plains, so we must leave - Please Alaia"

[Omega]

Chareur had just woken up in time to witness Alaia's evolution. "Congratulations, Alaia."

[Epi]

Alaia blushed and nodded at Chareur. " Thanks, " she said, then dramatically pointed in front of them, " So, to the meadow! Then the swamp...then the thicket...and then our destination! "

[Pidgey]

Having been separated from the group when she was attacked by a Fearow, Aryll had finally managed to pick up Adam's trail and had tracked the party to the berry tree groves. As the group of Pokemon came into sight, the little bird breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, she could rest her aching wings.

Circling the group once before coming in to land, Aryll ended up tumbling head over tail on the grass. Lying flat on her back, she blinked up at the others. "I...made it!" She exclaimed, through deep breaths.

[Epi]

Alaia raised an eyebrow in surprise at the new Taillow that had arrived. Oh, perhaps this Taillow was Aryll, the one Chareur was asking about yesterday? Cautiously, she approached the bird Pokemon. " Are you ok? " She asked worriedly, " Adam, I think we need to help her before we do anything else. "

[Adam White - Turtwig]

Adam kicked the now fireless fire stone, it was a dull read, Adam picked up with his teeth and placed it in his shell for safe keeping, along with berry supllies. "Okay, Now we set off for the meadow, before things, come crashing through the forest" Adam said as he heard his father ROAR on the otherside the river, "RUN!" Adam said sprinting through the Berry bushes as he heard loud splashes. "WE NEED TO GET TO THE PLAINS, IT CANT GO THROUGH THE PLAINS WITH OUT LOSING THE FOREST AS HIS TERRITORY" Adam sprinted to the end of the forest of berrytrees and jumped over a fallen tree and through to the meadow.

[Pidgey]

Rolling over onto her stomach, Aryll managed to find her feet. She stood and stretched her wings. There was a loud pop! as the bond slid back into place. "It's okay. I'm okay, really." She panted. "Maybe just a lil' tired and thirsty is all."

And then, a thunderous roar rumbled from some corner of the forest. This was followed by Adam's frantic yelling, as the Turtwig streaked past the others and made a beline for the meadow. Aryll's heart sank; she didn't want to be left behind again. "Wait up!" She called, as she fluttered along the ground, trying to keep up with the fleeing Turtwig.
