(Sorry about the really late reply! I got back from a gaming convention yesterday and I was tired like none other! Sorry it's a bit short -- kinda brain dead ^_^'')
The charmeleon smiled at Luna's calm description of the entire event from her perspective, nodding at points to confirm that he actually was paying attention and was taking mental notes. The one main detail that caught his attention though was the overall feeling of being slowly filled with the supplied energy rather than the numbing aftereffect. His facial expression did portray his interest in said detail, but he waited until she had finished explaining before he opened his mouth, "I'm certainly doing alright -- just a little tired, nothing to worry about," he quickly dismissed his own status in place of probing Luna for more information.
"Was that blood-rushing feeling at all painful, or at least did it have the potential to be painful?" Chancol's voice was level as usual, his eyes closing for a moment as his breathing finally leveled out into a steady, calm pattern.

Luna nodded to herself happily, relieved that he was alright. At his next question her gaze was on the ceiling once more, looking for answers again. "No...not too painful. It only hurt a little bit, so don't worry about it too much," she answered slowly. She sighed. "I've hurt worse."
The umbreon glanced back at him, studying his expression. She had almost forgotten that this was the first time he had tried this out. (Well, sort of.) So, he probably did have a lot of questions. But she wasn't sure she could answer them sufficiently.

((I'm really, really sorry for having been absent for the past month and a quarter -- between family, work and college, every minute of my time has been drained. Since move-in day is the 18th, I should be finding a little more time to hop on and reply each day, so I'm hoping I won't be taking another long break anytime soon.))
Yawning, the charmeleon pushed himself to his feet, stretching his arms above his head once up. "Good, I was hoping that it didn't bother you too much. Now, since you really are the first normal test subject to this, we might as well begin trying whether or not this actually holds up to its predicted ability. That is, unless you'd rather take a break for a while and return above ground or back to the Fortress, it's your call." His voice had finally lost all hint of exhaustion, returning to its even, cool tone. His eyes did scan over the umbreon just to see if anything had changed in her physical appearance, luckily nothing seemed abnormal, yet he couldn't speak for anything she might be feeling now.

Luna shook her head. "Nope! I'll do whatever you want! I feel fine, so we can test it if you want," she replied. "Though, we will be going back to the Fortress soon, right? I've been away from home too long." Her tail started wagging at the thought of seeing her other two friends again. Surely they'd be there, right?
Her blood red eyes watched Chancol carefully as a thought occured to her. "Are...are we the only ones left?" she asked quietly.

Chancol kept his eyes locked on Luna as she agreed to continue on with testing the new power, a slight smile on his face as Luna kept her upbeat tone and willingness to keep on assisting with his research. "Good...let's try this simply at first and we'll slowly ramp up tests for as long as you're willing to, I don't want you to -- " he had begun speaking after Luna completed her first sentence, only speaking quietly to let her know that he was still listening. The sudden question of whether or not he and Luna were the last ones, he stopped talking, his face showing somewhat of a confused countenance.
"What do you mean 'Are we the last ones'?" The charmeleon's voice was calm, but a very slight undertone of worry could be picked up, "I'm not exactly sure of what you mean."

How hard could the tests be, the umbreon wondered. Surely they wouldn't be too bad.
Luna looked back at him, a solemn expression on her face. "Of the Horde. Are we the only members left, or are the others back at the Fortress?" she repeated her question. Did it even exist anymore? It had been a long time since she had been back at the Fortress, and she felt very uninformed. Hopefully Chancol would know.

The charmeleon breathed a sigh of relief, almost having thought that something had happened that he wasn't aware of. Calmly, Chancol chose his words carefully in describing the current state of the Horde, "To be simple, we aren't the only ones left, the Fortress still has quite the number of inhabitants and followers to my command," he paused as he stretched his arms upward, a slight crack audible. "Now, to take a little bit of depth to the subject, you are part of the small population of the...let's just call it 'Old Horde'." Taking another pause, Chancol allowed his statement get to the umbreon's ears for comprehension before continuing on.
"You, and a few others have ultimately decided to stay loyal to me regardless of where my leadership takes us -- whether it be good or bad. For that, I am trying to reward such loyalty one soul at a time as I come up with different ways to grant that reward. Of course, there is a reason for me recognizing such loyalty..." The charmeleon's eyes gazed off into the darkness for a moment or so before snapping back to Luna. "Do you want details on what happened or can you pretty much infer what had happened?" His navy-blue eyes gave a questioning look, he wouldn't mind either response from the umbreon whether or not had to further explain what had happened.

Luna felt relief wash over her; the others were still around. That meant her other friends were okay. It was like a load was lifted off her back, and she could breathe easily now that she didn't have to worry about them. "Old Horde" did catch her attention, though. Though she had been a member for quite a while, Luna considered herself a rather recent addition to the Horde in comparison to how long it had been in existence. She liked the feel of being an "older member" now. It made her feel like she belonged.
When her dear friend spoke of rewarding the others, she hoped that he wouldn't over-exert himself. She was going to warn him to be careful, but he continued to speak and she listened intently. She knew there was a rebellion--she fought a rebel, actually, a day she'd rather forget. (Spilling the blood of one of her kind was hard; Luna, emotionally, couldn't be a fighter.) She did not, however, know any details on the matter. She merely knew it happened.
"I'm curious as to how it started, if it isn't too much trouble," she replied. Chancol didn't look bothered by the memory, so he probably wouldn't mind telling her only a little.

Chancol tilted his head, his face taking on a countenance of solemnity as he nodded in compliance to Luna's wishes, "Of course, I don't mind telling you. You might have remembered the last rebellion we had with the dragonite as its leader; luckily the insurrection that had occurred while you were away hadn't had a chance to bring itself to fruition before it was brought to light." Gazing up past Luna, the charmeleon recollected his thoughts upon the matter, slowly picking his words to provide the best picture.
"As for how the rebellion started, it all sourced from a little bit of curiosity -- perhaps even you share said curiosity with the former rebels, and if you do I wouldn't blame you nor anyone else who has stayed loyal this entire time," he began, sighing a little as he once again made eye-contact with the umbreon to reaffirm that he did truly believe in what he had said. "The major difference probably between you and the newer insurgents is more so mistrust rather than a desire for power -- many believed that I hadn't been putting the best interests of the Horde first and foremost, their reasonable basis was that I was gone far too often to do anything beneficial for the individuals that pretty much served without question." Chancol paused to let all his words sink in for a moment, hoping that he was making at least some sense to his friend -- having spent quite some time away from most forms of life gave him good reason to doubt his potential ability to still form coherent sentences that could clearly portray what he was after.
"By the way, you looked as if you were gonna say something earlier, or I'm I just tired and I don't realize it?" he asked, knowing that he all too much relied upon his power to keep him awake and going -- he could often go for extended periods of time without sleeping; all it required was just more focus of his energy about him. At this point he had stayed awake about the better part of a week, the days blending together as he couldn't remember the last time he truly slept.

"I see." While Chancol might have accepted their reasoning, Luna didn't. A good group should be able to function without its leader, or else they were useless. Nothing was based on fact; it was merely what they thought. Rebellions could be started over such trivial things. Then again, Luna had to remind herself, not everyone was as trusting as she was. They can't just have faith that their Shadowlord was doing something important and for the good of the group.
Of course, Luna didn't know the full story completely, either. So she really shouldn't pass judgement.
"You look tired," she pointed out when he mentioned her about to say something. "You should rest; maybe get some sleep. We can do tests later."
Luna couldn't believe it. Chancol always seemed to be thinking about what was best for her, so why would others think he didn't have the best interests?

Although he had the common sense to know that he needed rest, a smile crept up on his face -- a comparative child-like glimpse of the Chancol that had long since passed after laying claim to the title of Shadowlord. It was no secret that the charmeleon had very little social support when it came to being the sole, silent leader of such an organization with any clear former objective. Putting any meaning into the organization wasn't easy on Chancol's part, knowing that a majority of his subjects were power-hungry and morally void. He was accepting of those kinds of personalities, but on the other hand it was hard to have a true friend without being suspicious of being used as a stepping stone to gain power.
In a lighter-toned voice that wasn't typical of Chancol, he seemed to have thought over the possibility of rest for a moment before opening his mouth, "Y-yeah...that, sounds nice. Let's just seal up the cavern above ground." His smile remained, it was apparent that he was appreciative of Luna returning -- he hadn't had a true friend around in a long time. "See if you can follow me -- I'll leave first, then you follow. If I don't see you in a couple moments after I get back to the surface, then I'll return for you, alright?" Slowly, he began to dissolve into what looked like black sand, moving up through the rock back to where he had first shown Luna the odd purple stone.
