 Noises in the Night
« Thread Started on Mar 18, 2009, 1:58pm »

It was the middle of the night, and high in the sky a new moon loomed down over the land of Erymire - black and shapeless against the velvet blanket of the cosmos. Perched atop the branch of a tree - which would've looked creepier if it wasn't in full bloom, Noir the Murkrow looked down at the forest below and let out an eerie caw... just for the sake of it. Night was the time for dark types, and what better night than the night of the new moon? The night where strange things were said to happen, terrible nightmares from which pokemon never woke...

Noir ruffled his feathers indignantly. It was just a legend of course... but stories like that added a certain mysterious class to the dark type. And made pokemon steer clear of what they'd normally consider a small scrawny pup or a weakling scraggly bird... if they knew what was good for them. Letting out another caw, Noir glided down from his branch down to the pool's edge, leaning over and dipping his beak into the surface and spreading ripples across the surface.

Raising his head back up and tilting it backwards, Noir let out an "Ah!" of satisfaction as the cool liquid ran down his parched throat. Turning from the water's glassy surface, he smiled and looked out into the shadows of the forest, feeling ready to start another night's searching for the object of his desires... the Dusk Stone. "Now, if I were a Dusk Stone, where would I be..." He wondered aloud, swaggering confidently into the dark foreboding woods: fear was for other types.

Her pawsteps were soft, the faint noise they did emit merely accompanying a dark shadow as the Vulpix strode quickly across the grass that bordered the pools of sparkling liquid. She certainly looked like a being of the night: her pelt was of deep ebony, with white markings upon her head and along her cheeks that seemed to almost glow faintly as they reflected the light of the full moon and stars overhead. Her eyes were crimson, bright, glimmering, but she wore no true aura of evil, merely one of welcome tranquility.

Calypsa paused as she approached one of the pools, crouching along the ground and lowering her tongue to the water. Her tongue stood out particularly well against her dark body; pink wasn't something that most would see on such a dark creature. But, well, she wouldn't be this colour when the morning came. She twitched her six tails, white-tipped ears flicking forward as she caught the sound of the faint cawing conversation of some sort of bird.

She blinked, slowly raising her head as she tried to pinpoint the owner of the voice's location, though she had never been the best when it came to seeing in the night. Rather, she settled for calling out a response to the faint traces of conversation she had picked up on the evening breeze. "Why, may I ask, do you search for a stone of dusk?" she called quietly, her light voice ringing out through the dark air. Of course, there was the risk that the individual could be an enemy, but if that should happen she could always run.
